OK, I've read several places now that chewing your food really well is essential to good health (better nutrient absorption, less energy spent on digestion). So I'm trying to figure a way to train myself to chew each bite of food 30 times. Anyone have any suggestions or tricks for doing this?

Lol, nope, I've been trying for years but put food in front of me and as hubby says I "inhale" it. I think sometimes I chew like once before I swallow it (too many years gulping down food at any opportunity thanks to having twins).

I struggle with this as well. Try putting your utensil down between bites. That helps me not to swallow quickly to shovel the next bite in.

I'm terrible about that. I try to be conscious of it and if I think about it, I can count and chew my food well. But most of the time I don't even think about it and when I do, I tend to be lazy or in a rush and just say, "Forget it! This takes too long!" But I know I really need to chew better!

I wouldn't worry too much. I actually have started HAVING to do this, a little more, because as a pregnant woman, I don't digest food as effectively and I need to give my food all the help it can get, lol. I'm a fellow "one bite chewer" - if its small enough to fit down the throat, its small enough was my motto, lol.

I wouldn't worry about 30 times. That's just soooo hard. Figure out how many bites you usually do (maybe 5?) Then double that. Then add 5 more. I think 15ish is pretty good for an average food. I think Steak is one of those things that would require 30 bites and none of us are eating that anyway.
