Mmmm I just washed my hair again; now it'll be clean or relatively so until this weekend.

I was wondering how often everyone washes their hair. I try to do it every 3 or 4 days. By the fourth day I have to wash my hair; my scalp gets itchy and my hair feels really heavy from everything I put into it the last time I washed it. And of course it gets smelly by then, too.

I don't like the idea of washing my hair every day, as some people do. I've been told by more than one person that doing that can strip all the essential oils out of the hair. Even washing every other day seems a bit too much to me.

I try to shower every other day, I can't go much longer than that without a shower.

I use to wash my hair every other day as it was quite oily. Now that I am older, it has gotten a lot drier and I only wash it 2 or maybe 3 times a week.

I've done the baking soda and apple cider vinegar rinses for a few months now and I'm loving it. Never have to use shampoo or conditioner anymore and I'm down to using the rinses about once every 1-2 weeks. My hair just doesn't get oily anymore but I do take a shower every day and run the water through my hair briefly. Also, my hair was an oily mess before going 'no poo'. My hair used to be disgusting after a day and it wasn't as soft as it is now. I'm so glad I switched.

1-3x a week. It normally is like 2. It depends on what I have been doing that week.

I wash it about twice a week, though I've read that shampoos are bad for your hair, so I usually use conditioner and just scrub my scalp and hair hard to get all the dirt out, because I heard shampoo actually hurts your hair and is like putting dishwashing soap in, and conditioner has enough cleansing ingredients to get it perfectly clean. I'll shampoo once a week, though, with silicone-less shampoos, and then about twice a week (one of those is the day I use a little shampoo) I use a little more conditioner and scrub extra hard to clean it, and the rest of the week I don't take as long with my hair and just put a little conditioner in and finger comb through my hair and worry more about getting it in my hair than cleaning it. I've actually been able to go without gels or anything if I leave a little more conditioner in when I'm done conditioning, and my hair gets a lot less frizzy with a good moisturizing conditioner left in than when I use some fancy expensive frizz free hair product like gel or things like that.

This is true.

Quote:

That depends on the shampoo. Some are downright terrible while others are just fine.

I generally wash mine every other day, but I used to wash every fourth day without any issue. Moving in with a smoker and wanting to keep the smell out of my hair prompted that change.

I wash my hair only when a reality tv star has passed me by and brushed it, thereby contaminating it with filth.

I wash my very long hair once a week. I use coconut oil on the ends, shampoo and then rinse with apple cider vinegar. I've done this for years. My hair doesn't get dirty until it's time to wash it again. I shower daily, I just keep my hair out of the water.

Everyday, I couldn't imagine doing it less than that.

more importantly, how often do you wash those huge ears, and does it take you more than one bar of soap? i won't ask how you are able to reach behind them because i don't want to embarrass you.

My whole life it was every day until like last year now i shower every other day, i have thin fine hair so oil takes over pretty easy, but since i started doing that and washing with chemical free stuff it doesn't feel as oily as fast.
