8 is best, but my sleep is all screwed up right now. When I'm depressed I usually get about 4-5 hrs a night and still feel like I'm on speed all day.

I need 9. I wish I could get by on about 6 hrs like some people do then I'd have an extra 3 hrs or so in my day to do stuff <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/smiley.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":)">

Got about 3.5 last night. I'm working on a heck of a sleep-in day... not sure when I'll get it, though.

Pixelle - I agree! I was thinking about the same thing this morning.<br><br><br><br>
6:10am - wake up, complain how tired I am<br><br>
6:40am - leave for bus stop<br><br>
7:40am - arrive at work<br><br>
4:00pm - leave work<br><br>
5:15pm - arrive home<br><br>
5:15-7:00 - lie on couch moaning over how tired I am<br><br>
7:00-7:15 - find something partially edible in the fridge...or call delivery<br><br>
7:15-8:00 - come on vb and laugh at people<br><br>
8:00-9:00 - set out clothes and lunch for the nexy day, read a little, think about misc things for my book; try to write, falls asleep<br><br>
9:00-10:00 on Tues, Wed, Thur - watch reality TV. If not, watch a DVD episode of Deep Space Nine season 7<br><br>
10:00-10:30 - usually head to bed sometime in this range, complain how tired I am,count the days until the weekend.<br><br><br><br>
Thankfully, I won't be working full time all the time at this job; so I'll have a life. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/smiley.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":)">

If I get 6 hours sleep, I'm in slow motion. 5 hours and it takes me 5 minutes to figure out how to put my pants on. 4 hours or less and I fall asleep on the toilet.

I don't really know how much I need each night, but I know it's at least 8 hours, so I chose 8-9. I'm a full time student and I work shifts. I haven't had a consistent sleep schedule ever, probably. I'm guessing I'd need about 9 hours to feel my best, but I'm not sure I'd be able to fall asleep again after only being awake for 15 hours (without help). I dream of the time when I'll establish a regular sleeping cycle. I don't understand, but envy people that say they feel just fine with 5 hours or less everynight.

I need at least 8. Like Pixelle, I wish I could get by on less as I could really use those hours. But I can't, at least not without getting high caffeinated. I thought I was the only one. Most people I know almost brag about how they only need 6-7 hours of sleep. I can't even imagine that.

I usually get about 6-7 hours of sleep. I idealy would like the 8-9 hours, but what can you do? I read a study that said teenagers need 10 hours of sleep a night to throughly rest their growing and changing bodies. I'm 18 and I maybe get 10 hours a night every couple of months. I can function on 6 hours of sleep, but any less and I'm a zombie. I don't really like to drink mass amounts of coffee at one time, so I really need the sleep I get.<br><br>
Sleeping and eating, two of my favorite activities! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/smiley.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":)">

This is so me! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/laugh.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=""><br><br><br><br>
My husband once challenged me to stay up for 48 hours. I made it, but man, that was the longest 2 days of my life! Making decisions or trying to do anything took so long to figure out. It was like my thought process was bogged up in thick, goopy mud. I slept about 14 hours the next day. It took about a week to feel like I had "caught up" on my sleep.

I could really sleep forever - and on the weekends I do - but I find that more than 7-8 hours makes me groggy throughout the day.

7.5 is the PERFECT amount for me. 8 is the maximum, anything else and I'm walking around in a daze all day. 6 I can still function pretty normally, 5 I can pull off but I walk aorun in a semi-daze all day. Less than 5 and I'm dead and falling alseep all day, responding to everything five minutes too late and doing things like staplng my fingers to my shirt. Unfortunately, I usually get about 5.25 hours of sleep. Heh. not so great.

According to the National Sleep Foundation1, healthy adults need between 7 and 9 hours of sleep a night. Babies, young children, and teenagers need much more sleep in order to develop and grow. People over the age of 65 can get 7 to 8 hours of sleep every night as well.
