I have had some problem with fresh food going bad before I can use it. I was just wondering how many times a week do most people shop to avoid this problem.

I swear I responded to this thread...

I shop about once a week, and sometimes stop at the store to pick up specifics.

Every day

I dont live very far from 2 grocery stores,

and theres a grocery store very close to work as well.

Im an addict, when i plan ahead, i still usually end up

haveing to go back the next day for something else anyway.

Today i didnt have any bell peppers or tomatoes, so of course i had to get some.

I kinda like it this way better, Its easier for me to go to the store after work

and say "i want ___ and ____ and ____ and lots of ____ for breakfast tomorrow,

And these ______ look really good today, must have just got their delivery

ill get some of those for lunch tomorrow,

right now im in the mood for ____ and some ____ for dinner.

It might be different if i wasnt surrounded by grocery stores all the time.

I used to shop once a week but now that I am eating a lot more raw foods I go twice a week. Things like bananas and lettuce just don't last the entire week.

1 X per week CSA food pick-up

1 X per week Health Food Store

1 X per week reg. grocery

CSA & Health Food pick up are on the same day, reg grocery on a dif day, so Twice per week. I eat the really ripe or produce that doesn't keep as well first (ripe tomatoes, plums, grapes, baby spinach, etc) , and the produce that keeps better towards the end of the week (finally ripe tomatoes, mixed greens, kale, squash, etc).

It's hard to tell in our house. Seems we're always doing the produce shopping round here.

Bleh. I wish I could get to the grocery more often. Usually it's once every 2 weeks but lately it's been once a month or month and a half I just haven't had the time or money and it sucks being hungry and only having crackers or some other kind of bare bones food. I end up having to buy a salad at the food court at work every day because I don't have anything to bring with me. I try to run to the local health food store when I can just to pick up a few quick meal thingies and a few pieces of fruit or something, but that's not more than once a week. Basically, when we run out of fresh food, we rely on packaged/canned/frozen stuff until the next time we can get to the store

On the plus side, we just went grocery shopping tonight for the first time in almost 2 months so we've got a nice full cupboard right now.. I did forget bananas though, darn it...

It varies, depending on what I want to make. Some weeks, I shop every day, and others I will shop 3-4 times. I'm not the greatest at deciding ahead of time what I want to eat. I live very close to 2 grocery stores, and a HFS, so I can walk/bike/drive easily.
