Hi,<br><br><br><br>
Does anyone know if they sell oatmeal (or any other hot cereal) in packets without it being instant? I'll be going on vacation and I need some breakfast options. The hotel will supply me with a refrigerator (I can stock soymilk, fruits vegetables and leftovers from restaurants), not a microwave, and they told me that their room service can't heat food for me (it's a Marriott hotel, so I'm surprised, because the Omni hotel told me they could). But there will be a coffee pot in there so I thought maybe I could heat water for hot cereal a couple of times. Anyway, if anyone knows of any such things, please let me know. Thanks!

You could always use ziploc baggies and fill those with whatever cereal. That way you can even have ready, if you'd like, raisins/cinnamon/whatever to taste in each baggie.

I did think of that, but I don't want to carry much if I can avoid it so I was wondering of anything else. Someone mentioned instant quinoa and amaranth, but they supposedly are not as processed as instant oats...any thoughts there?

I'm not sure why individual packets would be easier or less bulky than do-it-yourself bagged goods. ? ?<br><br><br><br>
How about couscous? It only needs hot water to prepare. Also, I've travelled with an electric hot water pot:<br><br><br><br><a href="http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref=br_1_13/601-4271727-0948964?_encoding=UTF8&frombrowse=1&asin=B000F1EXUC" target="_blank">http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html...sin=B000F1EXUC</a><br><br><br><br>
Besides heating water, it can be used to heat up soup, so I don't see why it wouldn't also work for cooking hot cereal.

Because I won't be carrying the packets or whatever, I'll be buying them down there.

Hey, you posted this on the south beach board <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/tongue3.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":p"><br><br><br><br>
I was at the store today and saw oatmeal and premade bowls that i think you just add water to... not sure though, i didnt really look at the back. Why not cold cereals? Cereal + soy milk = <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/lick.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":lick:">

<a href="http://maryjanefarms.com" target="_blank">http://maryjanefarms.com</a> They sell food packets that you can just add hot water to...some are vegan, just do a search of the word vegan or check the ingredient list.
