Wouldn't it be great to have something to refer to when renting/borrowing movies so you know whether or not to potentially waste your time on it? Alas, it will never happen, with people's varying tastes, but hopefully you know someone on VB who has similar tastes to yours.

Post the worst of the worst here. Especially those movies that were so awful you couldn't watch it to the end.

Mine:

Very Bad Things

Business for Pleasure

Seabiscuit

Joe Dirt

Sleepless in Seattle

Given that the appreciation of movies, like all other kinds of art, tends to be subjective, IMHO it would be difficult to have a list of "worst" movies that we can all agree on.

But I'm going to list some anyway.

Forrest Gump

Falling Down

Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure

Secretary (with Maggie Gyllenhaal)

I mentioned that in my OP, silly.

I wondered about the wisdom of including several on my list, as well. I didn't make it through all of them.

But then, I didn't make it through the Rogers & Hammerstein musicals Oklahoma! and South Pacific, either.

That movie was freaking horrible. I watched it all, couldn't tell you why.

Some others that pop into my head (most of them will be horror movies):

The Hills Have Eyes- Unrated

Dark Water (The Shining, redux- anyone?)

The Ring

Silent Hill (game was scary, movie was just suck)

agree with Forrest Gump

All of the Tom Hanks/Meg Ryan cutesy romantic comedies

Dude, Where's My Car? (

I love those films! I own them both! I find Secretary to be strangely arrousing (perv)

For me: Under the Cherry Moon (with prince) This is the film my family uses as the comparison for all things bad. As in "Is it better or worse that Under the Cherry Moon?"

I agree with Brandon about Silent Hill. It started off well and got worse as it went on. I couldn't finish watching it. Another movie is 2001 Maniacs, which is about cannibals. Ugh I stopped watching that after about 20 minutes.

Finding Nemo--quit watching it after a half-an-hour. Boring as hell!

Any teeny-bop love, dumb-humor comedies.

Wedding Crashers

Failure to Launch

Friday the 13th--boring...

Most horror movies in theaters right now. I must say that the best horror movies are coming from Japan (excluding the rip-offs of the Ring and the Grudge).

Not to me. I loved Finding Nemo!
I loved the scene where the fish voiced by Brad Garrett says "Quick! To the top of Mount Wanahockaloogie!"

Have you seen the second sequel - Escape from the Planet of the Apes? It's better than sequel #1. IMO.

I am not a big movie person (don't care for any actors/actresses/directors) so when I do actually watch a movie it's quite a letdown when it's bad. These are the worst ones that I can remember watching.

Charlie And The Chocolate Factory (Remake): It was boring and Jonny Depp is

Walk The Line: Skipped WAY too many details of his life. Boring.

Billy Madison: Adam Sandler. Need I say more?

I know What You Did Last Summer (or ANY teen horror flick): Boring, predictable and overly-dramatic.

Jawbreaker: Caught this on tv...With Rose McGowan and the girl from the Noxima commercials. Watch Heathers instead.

But the WINNER is (drumroll)... SHOWGIRLS!!
