I have some silk shirts, and a silk tie. I also have silk socks, a few.

If Jess was correct out of our two interpretations and you were in fact asking how to replace silk, here's what you do: don't wear those shirts, ties, or socks. Get other dressy stuff that you like instead, made out of a synthetic material.

i'd be inclined to either give them away/donate them, or wear them out, (cos it'd be wasteful to just toss them out) and then not buy silk stuff next time i buy socks etc, or remember to ask the people who buy me stuff like that to please not get the silk ones.... i'd think that synthetic ties and socks would be cheaper than silk ones too, which is a bonus if you're on a budget

"health vegans" are no more then strict vegetarians. The term vegan implies a concern for animals.

Vegetarian is a diet.

Vegan is a diet, a belief, and a lifestyle.

not to be argumentative, but to clarify in my own brain pan here,

if one has the lifestyle (no animlals used anywhere, no matter why, isn't that vegan? I've been operating under the assumption that strict veg was SIMPLY food.

Someone who considers themself a "health vegan" isn't going to have any reason to avoid lanolin in lotion, or leather in their shoes. Therefore, I think it'd be pretty hard to find someone who doesn't use animals anywhere, yet doesn't do it for the animals, which is the point of veganism.

I also heard somewhere that some companies that sell honey will burn the hives when the bees aren't producing as much product...winter? Has anyone else heard that? Anywho, if so, that's just not nice...plus, you're right, the honey's coming from a living creature...sounds not-so-vegan to me.
