Not being home-schooled [though I honestly would have preferred it], I didn't even realize that home-schooled children had such a hard time getting into colleges and universities.

It's nice that colleges are changing things up to give them their fair chance. Most home-schooled children I have met have been incredibly intelligent and talented individuals.

I don't think they do for the most part ( at least not around here), i think its good that schools are putting methods in place to fairly evaluate them though.

there was just a good article in the Harvard Crimson about some homeschooled student who are at harvard now and how they are adjusting.

one homeschooer i know said her son just recently applied to a carpenter trade school. He was homeschooled, went to community college, got an associates degree, aced the entrance exam for the trade school, interviewed well, but was told he couldnt get in because he had no hs diploma!!! that to me is just foolish.

That's ridiculous, if you ask me. He has an Associate's Degree, something higher than a high school diploma.

How stupid.

I was homeschooled from 4th grade up and had no problem getting accepted at a university. My parents ordered a high school diploma for me and I also took the GED and got the 2nd highest score in the state. I never took the SAT or ACT, but I took community college classes in high school, so I transferred into my university.
