I'm starting this thread to rant about how much we hate high school, because i KNOW i'm not the only one haha. i went to new haven (i live in ct) this weekend to go to an art museum with my bf, and it reminded me of how i can't wait until i am on my own, at art school in the city. but yeah...

-people stink. kids who adore their own popularity and think they're hot ****. no one else care that you think you are popular. your all sluts.

-drugs/alcohol. i don't do this myself, just because i'm healthy and don't need it to have fun but i usually don't care if other people want to do it. high school is so out of hand though, everyone doing it to be with the majority. peer pressure is talked about all the time but no one is smart enough to actually overcome it.

-STEREOTYPES, CLOSEMINDEDNESS, EVERYWHERE I GO PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT THEIR FRIENDS BEHIND THEIR BACK, OBVIOUSLY NOT TRYING TO HIDE IT IF I CAN HEAR YOUR PATETIC CONVERSATION AND I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHO YOU ARE.

lol. i'm a little bitter. don't get me wrong, i love my friends. and i do have a lot of friends. and i don't let this affect me or bother me but i notice it, hence the rant. but as for the people who aren't my friends... it is for a reason. seriously. i can't stand looking at some of these people everday haha.

Yeah. High school sucked ass for me.

Trust me, things change when you get to college. Most people there are more grown up and thinking about the future.

I live in connecticut too, and I can relate to everything you say (execpt for the having a lot of friends part, which is my personal choice). Honestly, I'm kind of lost at my school, I get mocked a lot about my diet, which I find strange and immature. As for people at your school, just be thankful you haven't become like them and keep doing what you love (art, music, whatever it may be) I hear people talk badly about thier friends where ever I go in my school, this is mainly why I only have a few good friends. It used to upset me seeing how heartless and selfish these people are, but now I just walk through the halls with my music blasting, and nothing can get to me. =]

I know this sounds lame and cliche, but high school is definitely what you make of it. My first year and a half I was really bitter and sarcastic and mean, and I hated everyone and myself. But as I got a little older, I've learned to ignore the bull**** and be there for myself and not let people get to me, which has helped a lot and definitely made me a more well-liked, approachable person.

Just find some people with the same values (not necessarily veg*nism) and don't worry about the other kids. If they get to you, they've won. Just get through it a day at a time.

Seriously though. I hate high school so much.

Newman, you have a really good attitude! Good for you!

Personally, I hated high school. I had friends, but I was very introverted and shy and it was very difficult for me.

I can completely relate to how you feel. For me, high school was a miserable experience for many reasons. I feel that the "best years" of my life will be when I move out on my own, truly have freedom, and start getting my life together. I think people say that high school are the best years of your life because you don't have too many responsibilities. However, when you're out of high school (and maybe college too?) I think that's when your life truly begins...or when mine will at least.

I'm with Newman, wherever you are in life there are always going to be things going on that you don't agree with. If you just chill out and don't let things get to you high school is a lot more fun. Find some people or activities that you really like and spend a lot of time on them. Once I laid back a little and opened myself up for trying new things, I realized that high school isn't really that bad of a time.

Now of course, that being said, I'm more than ready to graduate

I had a great high school experience. It was an emotional roller coaster, and the events that caused those emotions were pretty miserable, but even with all that I really felt good about where I was. I love college now, but I really miss the way my life used to be.

I can't explain why. I guess I was lucky to have great friends (even the ones that weren't so great were good to have around before they went bad), a wonderful family, and the freedom to join tons of extracurricular groups. I'd really built a great life for myself, and now that I'm on my own away from all that, life's gotten really boring.

Newman, that post was well said and i agree 100%! i mean, i don't let this stuff actually get to me but bottom line is i hate high school. i'm a sophmore.. a little over 2 years and i'll be surrounded with better people and in a better environment.

but seriously. even a lot of my friends are CLUELESS. just a few examples: one girl, a sweetheart, smart.. but she is getting a bad reputation by messing around with all these *******/popular/jock guys who flock to her because she is pretty. but shes better/smarter than them and she should see it!

also, so many of my friends haven't read any good books outside of english class or seen any good thought-provoking movies. all they seem to be worried about at times is the drama on The Hills or other shows like that. i do have certain things in common with all of them though, and my boyfriend knows a lot about music and art and the more intelligent aspects of things. another positive, i've had several good religion chats with a few friends. so idk. high school just makes it hard to escape the foolishness in many people.

oh yeah, and the dumb things said by omnivores are ABUNDANT here.

once at lunch, a girl asked if i could eat potatoes.

i told her that they came from animals, so no (even my tone was clearly sarcastic).. and she still believed me for a good minute. until the rest of us started laughing.

I hated high school and the whole high school time of my life, despite having a bunch of friends who helped me survive the **** in school.

I would still be in High School in America, but I escaped to sixth form college here in the UK! Mwuhahaha!

Whoo Hoo! This is my last year of High school then I'm going to uni! Soooo happy! Not that HS is bad... It's quite fun because my whole year are a bunch of idiots who sit in the common room and be idiodic... in a good way. It's just the damn workload...

So, if you havn't guessed, I like HS. And the fact that it is an all girls private probabally matters, and makes it a bit different, maybe. But if these are the best years of my life, I don't want to see what work is like.

High school pretty much sucks. Most people are *******s and there's too much drama and backstabbing. I like to be a generous person and be nice to people, but then they don't appreciate anything. I don't want to succumb to people who don't want to be a good friend, so most of the time, I just don't bother anymore.

Last week, a friend of mine who just became vegetarian (not sure if she still is) said she missed fish, so I went out of my way and made her vegan sushi and packaged it all up nicely in a lunchbox and brought it to school for her. She said thanks maybe once and then just kept saying how I didn't have to make it for her, then she never mentioned it again, never said if she liked it, and keeps forgetting to bring back the lunchbox after I've reminded her.

Oh, and people don't like to listen. I'll be talking to someone and they'll look like they're listening and then turn around and talk to someone else.

I can't wait to get out of highschool when people start to mature a little. I don't really have similar interests with most people at my school and get along better with like-minded people.

i'm glad so many people agree. and it's not even just the blatent backstabbing or immaturity, it is sooo hard to find unique or truly special people. all the kids at my school who try to act like they don't follow the crowd really just form their own cliche crowd of scene clothes and emo music. yeah, some of them are awesome kids but many are just trying too hard to be a nonconformist and therefore falling into the black hole of another cliche.

i want to meet laid back people who listen to music that isn't justified by tons of other listeners. i want to meet people who like to read and watch off beat weird movies... i want to meet vegan people ( or even people who are more accepting! honestly, some people joke around with me.. just being goofy, not meaning anything bad but they'll be like mm mary i had soem good bacon for dinner last night. and i laugh and go along with it and say well i feel sorry for you then... next time i want to say, shut up ******* you are disgusting and barbaric and if you're going to slaughter flesh don't flaunt it. )

phewww i can't help but rant about this once i get started, haha.

I probably look like an idiot because I am truely the only one that has said this on this board, but I like highschool. It is nice to be out of the house during the week and be with your friends. Now I admit I can't wait until college but for now I like where I am at.

I haven't really thought about how different it will be though when at college. I have been with the same people since 4th grade... my class consists of about 400 people and it will be wierd to never see the same faces I see everyday that makes everything so familiar.
