Just introducing myself. I am a vegan. I only became one about a month ago after reading alot and watching petas meet your meat. I was already eating alot of vegetables and fruits so it wasn't hard to really make the switch. I do find it hard to find good stuff to eat in my colleges cafeteria. they don't lable things as vegan so you just have assume most everything has some animal product besides uncooked veggies and some of the breads that have labels. I am single. I am 20. I am a composer. I want to write music for film and large orchestras. If you want to hear some of my music go to www.uark.edu/ua/muth. My piece is at the bottom of the page. Its called freedoms call. The unviesity played it last year. I wrote it in honor of the victims of sept. 11. I don't know any vegans but I know two vegetarians here in fayetville. You guys rember how it was when you first switched. I am not used to some of the comments I get. Most every is understanding about it. I want to get to know some of you. send me an email or a private message. I repeat I am single

Oh, yea I forgot to mention I am a guy. About 20 years old. And I love Stravinksy's music too. Or as like to say "Strawinsky." The rite of spring is one of my top 5 pieces of all time. (The subject kind of reminds me of what they do to animals). Id love to see some of your music stephen if you have it on midi/finale you can send me an attachment email: [email protected]. BTW all the girls on here are extremly pretty at least judging by their avatars.

The Rite of Spring is possibly one of my favourite pieces ever too... though the top spot is currently still filled by Edgar Varese's 'Arcana' (if you haven't listened to it already, you simply must!!!)

Unfortunately, I don't keep any of my music on the computer. I'd love to be able to use a decent piece of music software, but they're all so expensive
My friend has Sibelius on his computer though... maybe he'd be kind enough to let me use it sometime

All the best,

Stephen

Welcome here, Magates! I hear you about the college cafeteria--I live at home and commute to my college, but my first year there I worked some dinner shifts in the cafeteria. It's a good thing I got a free dinner whenever I worked, because I wouldn't have payed for that junk. Who's the food service provider at your college? If it's Sodexho Marriot Food Services, you may be out of luck unless you can rustle up a big group of veg*ns to lobby them with you.

Well the food service company is chartwells. They seem open to doing things for students dietery needs. They have a few vegetarian dishes some of which are vegan but you have to be really carefull sometimes they don't lable things and they have dairy so I have to ask the workers all the time about stuff. As far rustling up other vegans. There are 2 vegatraians and 1 vegan student that I know on campus of over 5000 students. I love my vegtarian budies but I don't think we form a good lobby.

One idea that I tossed around when I was a first-year student was to form some kind of vegetarian club. I thought about putting flyers up all over the place for an info meeting in case there were people who would be interested that I didn't know personally. You might want to try that. The reason I didn't was because I quickly became so busy with other activities that heading up a club wasn't something I could squeeze in anywhere.

In fact, you might find someone to answer that "I'm single, save me" plea via the as-yet-to-be-formed veg*n alliance.
