After fighting it for years,I have finally decided to become a vegetarian.Does anyone know of a really good cookbook? Also, anyone have any suggestions on what to do when eating out when there are only a Mcdonalds or chick fil a

in town? I am really excited about this lifestyle change and I really want to stick to it. Any suggestions?

Welcome to VB! My favourite cookbook is one called 'Student Veggie Grub' which is not just for students, but is filled with cheap, tasty, quick recipes.

trh8 - Cookbooks aren't really necessary. There are thousands of recipes (probably tens of thousands) online. We have a recipe section here, VegWeb is another good site, and of course you can always search Google for [google]vegetarian recipes[/google]. I usually just sift through them until I find something fairly easy that sounds good.

Michael's pretty much correct - you don't absolutely NEED a cookbook at all.

However, through a lot of trial and error and wasted food, I have learned a few things about Internet recipes...

ANYONE can write down a list of ingredients and call it a recipe.

A few tips:

MAKE SURE you try recipes from actual cooks/cookbooks/TV shows/reputable websites etc.

OR choose recipes with a few personal notes from the person who wrote/posted it,

OR choose recipes with a rating system,

OR choose recipes that have several reviews/comments written by people who've actually TRIED the recipe...

Stay away from those that just look like they're cut-n-pasted from elsewhere...

Yes, even a few of the recipes here on our dear VeggieBoards have not ended up as wonderful as I had imagined they would (*gasp!! I know! The horror) though rest assured, most are MARVELOUS!

A few of my favorites (besides here of course )

http://www.bryannaclarkgrogan.com/page/page/661699.htm

http://www.veganmania.com/ (Kreeli's actually a VB member!)

http://www.theppk.com/

http://vegkitchen.com/ (Nava's son posts here too!)

http://www.veganchef.com/

http://www.veganmeat.com/recipie.html

GOOD LUCK and welcome to VB!
