Hi, I’m Steve, been a working my way up to being a vegan for 35 years, finally stopped eating and using animal products last year. First, mainly for health reasons, then for animal rights and environmentalism. Have become so enthusiastic that I created a website, wedigfood.com, to become throughly involved in the “movement”, see it as part of my involvement with Buddhism. Was shocked by the far reaching and horrible effect the non-vegan food industry has on our planet.

WELCOME!! :hi:

The non-vegan food industry aspect is alarming. Good luck with your efforts.

I also embrace the Eastern Thought of No Harm......if only more people would. :(

Thanks for the responses. Hello back to all of you. Would like to engage with members who discuss the environmental effects and animal rights abuse issues related to the non-vegan industry. Which forum would that be? Also I see that Capstan is a moderator…do you know how I set up my account to receive emails if someone responds to a post I put up? Also, what is a trackback?
Thanks again.

Check out our Activist Forums. It has sub-forums for animal issues, animal rights and welfare, environmental issues, action alerts, and activist discussions. It's a great place to exchange ideas on all these subjects.

By default, your e-mail address is not visible to other members. You can change this setting by going to your User CP (control panel) and, in the left-hand column, click Edit Options. VB has an in-house Private Message system, where you should be able to exchange private messages with any other member, without making any changes. These are not e-mails, but are contained within the VB website. For security reasons, because we are a public forum, we encourage members not to publish their personal e-mail addresses, but it's up to you. Private Messages is a much safer way to go.

Happy posting!

Thanks for the quick reply, will check that forum.

Actually I was asking about getting a notification email when someone responds to my post or directly contacts me. Now I use the internal search engine and put in my name, wedigfood, to see if someone has responded to my post. That is how I figured out that you answered my question. I am sure there is an easier way.
Thanks again

Go to User CP, then options and there is a drop down box under "default thread subscription mode". Change it to "instant email notification"

Thanks, nice to meet you. I appreciate you checking out the site, please take a look at the post that I put up about Thich Nhat Hanh.

I have another site, www.fairtrademarket.com that contains lots of Buddhist information that you also might be interested in. In my opinion I don't see how one could not be vegan if they followed the Buddhist philosophy, at least in the First World.
