Welcome, Gehry! And congrats on wishing to make the transition to a vegan diet. I went vegan a little more than a year ago (after having been vegetarian almost 9 years) and have not looked back.

I recommend buying the book Becoming Vegan by Vesanto Melina and Brenda Davis. That will cover all the areas that vegans need to pay attention to: calcium, iron, vitamin B12, omega-3s, and vitamin D. You'll read about how many servings you need of what in a day, etc. You'll be able to tackle all those questions that come your way (it's always the same ones): where do you get your calcium? etc. Meeting all your nutritional needs on a vegan diet is easy.
