Hello everyone!

I'm not new to being a vegetarian, I actually was for 3 years before and my parents were really supportive of me and everytihng (they've been vegetarians for about 20 years now). However, when I started uni and moved out of home (tropical, warm country) to freezing winter temperatures in Australia, I couldn't handle the new environment. I couldn't find the exact food i was eating at home and no fake meat (yeah, I depend on those) I found was the same as those back home. It was a hard decission but after 4 months I decided it would be best to go back to being an omnivore. I realised amongst other things that i got angry all the time due to my meat intake. I never noticed how calm I was before but when I was regularly eating meat, my temper was out of control. I started feeling unhealthy too and it took my body a few weeks to get used to the new food I was eating. Pretty soon, the meat eating became a habit and I was back to my old ways. In the back of my mind I knew that meat was wrong but I kept telling myself that I couldn't handle it in a temperate country. It's been over 5 years now and I now know exactly where to get the veggies and fake meats that I used to eat back at home. I even found tempeh last week and nearly danced in the store! You have no idea how much I love tempeh. So finally, I decided it was time to do it. I was watching Aussie masterchef where they ate raw minced beef with a raw egg yolk on top. Sick. That sort of motivated me to look up slaughterhouses and what really goes on in there. So yesterday, I decided to join veggieboards to connect with other veg*ns who I have a lot of respect for (especially veg*ns who give up meat after eating it all their lives). I know that if I ever felt weak or if my motivation to conitinue my new diet wasn't strong enough, the people here will keep me going. It's nice to be here amongst other like minded people! I'm starting off being a vegetarian but I hope to become a vegan some day when cheese and chocolate aren't some of my favourite foods anymore. Glad to meet all of you

Welcome!

You might wanna be careful though, seeing as how you're a giraffe and a lion was the first to welcome you here.

HAHA! Nice one! I read somewhere that giraffes are so strong that they could kill a lion with ONE kick. Giraffes are awesome! No offence Mojo

Welcome to Veggieboards!

You've already infiltrated "Make a New Sentence" which is good, it needed more people posting.
