Hi, looking for a board where I can get advice about raising vegetarian children. Me and my husband gave up meat almost a year now, and we have decided not to allow our oldest to eat meat from outside sources anymore since watching footage on nightline last night about foie gras.(My husband watched, I covered my eyes) What brought us to vegetarianism a year ago, was watching a video about KFC chickens. I was so upset I couldn't sleep for nights.

I think it is ridiculous animals suffer so much just so a human can have a meal out of them. It just isn't worth it. Animals suffer enough as is without us purposely inflicting harm and neglect on them.

We are currently getting ready to move and looking for a house with acreage and will be running some type of animal rescue. We are not sure what type of animal rescue specifically we want to specialize in just yet. God will show us what the greatest need is for when we get there. (Yes, that's right, we are born again Christians!) When I lived in Idaho I worked for a Humane Society.

We eat so much better since we stopped eating meat! Vegetarian cooking is so yummy if done right! I totally look forward to sharing recipes and menus.

One more thing, we homeschool!

Oh, and we use cloth diapers on our babies. I imagine I am not the only one on a veg board!

Welcome to the VeggieBoards!

An animal rescue, huh? That sounds absolutely phenomenal! And cloth diapers, go you!

I saw a video about KFC's chickens as well and now I call it "sneaker chicken". I saw the men jumping on them and throwing them at the walls ... what morons. What kind of coward has to beat up on chickens to feel like a big man?

You'll get plenty good advice here about raising veggie children, there are quite a few parents here who have veg*an offspring [I'm not one, very sorry].

Enjoy your stay here on the boards!
