environmentalist ideals lead to this decision, with health benefits trailing closely in second place.

I am SUPER skinny already. I think the obivous irony is that i will likely end up increasing my body mass due to increased conscienceness and effort toward a balanced diet. Flax seed oil anyone?

I live in Chandler, Arizona. Not overwhelming options for veggie eats, but I like challenges for creativity. I ought to eat at home more anyway to save money. Preparing food for myself has always felt theraputic in a sense.

I have done some light research on the internet about how to build a complete veggie protein. All of the information I got was either too confusing, or categorical (is that a word?). Specifics would be great. For example, if you are having tofu, sprinkle sesame seeds on top. Peanuts? have some...

confession #1, I am trying to break my diet coke addicition. for obvious reasons but also because of some social issues.

Confession #2, i like madonna's american life cd, but wouldn't be offended if you don't.

more confessions to come. =)

you seem to have the right idea. It's easy to put on weight on a vegetarian diet if you want to. Just eat more
Get your healthy fats and plenty of calories in and you'll do great.

There's a great recipies section on this site that might help you out.

Soy (including soymilk, tofu, etc) is a complete protein. You don't have to add anything to it. As are avocado and quinoa, I think. If you are still eating eggs and dairy, both of those are complete proteins too. IN GENERAL, grains + legumes makes a complete protein, IIRC, so for example beans + rice is great. But you don't need to worry about it too much - the proteins don't have to be combined in the same mouthful or even the same meal so if you eat a variety of things over a day you should be fine.

good for you. I used to love diet coke but rarely drink it now (not for any conscious reasons - they took the can vending machione out of my school
)

Welcome to VB!

Isowish had some very good advice. I also recommend The Tip of the Day Thread in the New to Vegetarianism Forum. There is lots of good advice there.
