dk, I'm one person. My DH and I call each other "Monkey" and "Bunny". (I'm the "bunny" in this relationship) We are still in the Newlywed stages and have a penchant for calling each other silly names.

Lemme see.... Since a couple of you are curious about me...

Here goes...

I'm 27 going on 28 this October ( Goooo Libra!)

I got married last year.

I live in Indiana (Yes there is more than corn in Indiana! Actually there are twice as many soybean fields as there are corn fields. More corn is grown in Illinois. Alas most of the soybean fields are used for animal feed. booooo I digress)

I'm working on a novel and I'm involved in a local arts group.

I work for a large University, I'm a coordinator for a distance education consortium. I assist people who want to finish college via distance education. I *heart* my job!

I'm a damn good cook and I make the best veg chili this side of Indiana. (According to my DH :)

My Dh is a wonderful and tolerant omnivore, he's developed an addiction to Boca Burgers, Soy milk and Indian food. We have a really good inter diet relationship.

I want to spank people who think chickens grow on trees.

I'm Byzantine Catholic and not a crazy right wing Rush Limbaugh loving psycho.

I'm Serbian, Croation, Polish and Irish, Second generation on this soil. My grandfather has named me his "meat-a-less" grandchild.

I hate all R&B(except Barry White, but isn't he Soul?) and crappy pop music.(This includes "Nu Metal) I love Old Goth, Industrial, punk and electronica.

Is that 100 words?

Nice to meet all of you!

I think that's over a hundred.

Can you tell me more about Byzantine Catholicism? I did a brief google search, and I recognize the symbol, and I read some on a few pages, but I don't understand how it differes from Roman Catholicism (bad sites, I guess!)

Welcome Aboard. You're one day away from being stunned by the amazing things you'll find on VB.

Mikie...

Check out www.byzcath.org, take the message boards with a grain of salt. There are some rather intelligent but myopic individuals who post there. They do have good articles for those that are curious... Here is a rather cool site link to a parish in Illinois http://www.byzantinecatholic.com/, there are some good links here...

Here are some main differences between Roman Catholic and Byzantine Catholic...

Byzantine Catholic is just as Catholic as Roman Catholic. (Although some RC'ers beg to differ) We believe the Pope is the leader of the Church. We offer the same sacraments. ( Baptism, Chrismation, Marriage, Holy Orders, Last Rights)

We celebrate the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom, if you have been to an Eastern Orthodox Church (Greek Orthodox, Serbian, Russian, insert nationality here Orthodox) It's the same with a minor differences in translation.

When saying the Nicene Creed BC's do not use the Filoque. (Although some parishes do, this is due to "latinization" which occured during the 19th century. Thanks to the Oriental Lumen, by John Paul II Eastern Catholic churches have been encouraged to restore thier eastern traditions)

Eastern Catholics bow instead of genuflect

Eastern Catholics do not kneel for the conscration until after pentacost.

We cross ourselves with our right hand, thumb, first finger and middle fingers together- Forehead, breast, right shoulder, left shoulder. RC's cross themselves with four fingers from left to right. (Again just like Orthodox)

We have our own set of Patriarchs and are not subject to the local Roman Ordinary.

That's all I can think off right now. Hope I 'splained myself clearly. :p

What does "DH" stand for - dear husband, dastardly husband, dingbat husband, designated hitter, droopy hair, delicious hummus, droning harpy, drippy hose, dandelion head (that's me on some days),.......?

It may be obvious to everyone else, but I can't figure it out!

It's funny, because what you said just brought back a memory from years ago that I forgot about!

I went to Catholic school, and there was a (dumb) kid in my class who would always cross himself with his left hand and go right to left shoulder, and my teacher would always yell at him.

Interesting. Doesn't seem to be very different at all!

Welcome aboard!
