okay, i'm a bit of a die hard, but the other day i was walking around in a health food store and came across hemp make up. anyone familiar with hemp and the entire message of the hippie movement can probably understand why i stood there for a while scratching my head. my bewilderment springs from what is IMHO, a very odd way to use hemp, which probably springs from my slight adversion to makeup. don't get me wrong, i have somehow, like most people in my situation, managed to inherit a cabninet full of skin care products to stare blankly at each morning. i keep these on the grounds that they are perfectly earth friendly cosmetics, and i seem to think the urge to look like a natural member of society will strike me on one of those special occasions (ie. weddings. by this i mean *my* wedding, and that's only a maybe) more frighteningly yet, the only thing i have the slightest clue how to apply is black eyeliner, which i've found is a subtle but sure-fire way to scare small children and animals. but what do you think? is makeup a threat to the natural way of life, or am i just a crazy woman too lazy to put on anything more complex than chapstick?

ROFL budda...<br><br><br><br>
I wear it occasionally. I went to America with no makeup and only basic skincare stuff. I do look after my skin as if I'm not wearing makeup I don't want it all pimply and gross. In fact, I used to wear makeup heaps to hide how bad my skin was as I didn't look after it... now I do I rarely feel the need for makeup except on special occasions. But I don't have an aversion to wearing it. If I wear it is is very basic and natural looking or crazy funky to suit the "character" I'm in (I like to dress up).

I don't wear that much makeup myself...lip balm/gloss and skin care stuff (Cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen etc.)...I guess I'm blessed to have nice skin. Lots of freckles, but I <3 them. I'm just trying to do better with animal friendly products.<br><br><br><br>
But I'm in drama at school, and I have to wear stage makeup sometimes, ugh. Itchy, and bad for the animals.

I thought I'd add, all my skin care products are cruelty free (<a href="http://www.crueltyfreeshop.com.au" target="_blank">http://www.crueltyfreeshop.com.au</a>) and I'm gradually replacing my makeup as it slowly gets used... harder to find cruelty free makeup...

i wear light blue eyeshadow and dark brown mascara sometimes. only reason for the shadow is that it brings out my eyes, which are already really blue. i take less time to get ready than my boyfriend. after i get out of the shower i'm ready in five minutes which i think is pretty kick ass of me. and he is rather proud of that fact as well. heh.<br><br><br><br>
i could say some not so nice things about makeup and people who depend upon it but alas i will refrain as it shall only cause chaos.<br><br><br><br>
oh, i do at times have to put some freakin 'gel' (vegan of course) in my hair because since i cut it, if i wear it down it is abnormally huge and is able to house entire colonies of small mammals.

Ja, well, for some, makeup is warpaint. That's what I used to call it. My mask for an uncaring evil world.<br><br><br><br>
Now I don't feel quite so vulnerable...<br><br><br><br>
I have puffy hair too. I usually ponytail it for that reason. Thinking of getting it cut. Hmmmm.

i used to be anti-makeup, but now i don't mind wearing a bit of lipstick or eyeshadow if i'm in the mood to mess with it. for the most part i think many women have an unhealthy obsession with it.. i think it's a way of "lying" and distorting our natural beauty - especially if you really get into wearing a lot of foundation and stuff like that..<br><br><br><br>
personally, i don't see any problems with hemp-based makeup, why not have it made from environmentally friendly sources if you're gonna have it at all? Besides, I suppose that having hemp in the makeup would have some sort of benefits to it - being so rich in EFAs n' all ...

i really need to get ahold of some vegan hair minimizing product. i completely sympathize with the small mammals thing, funkified.<br><br>
and yeah, i think make up does take a bad rap for those people who look like they've put it on with a paint brush.<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/wink3.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=";)">

I go through phases of wearing make-up/not wearing make-up... I'm in a wearing phase, so I'd be all for hemp make-up, though I totally see what you're saying in that it really doesn't make any sense <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/inquisitive.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":stinkeye:">

Sometimes I don't wear makeup and sometimes I wear very little. Besides that...I see makeup as being a misunderstood artform and I love experimenting with it! Next time you're in a book store, look at any book by Kevyn Aucoin...the man was so talented.

i don't see why the hemp makeup thing doesn't make sense. advocates for products made from hemp don't have to be stereotypical hippies. that's like saying, someone who juices their own juice must hail from the tropics, or hmm.what else...someone who happens to wear a lot of black one day is suddenly a goth.<br><br><br><br>
(if that made any sense...)...<br><br><br><br>
i think most people here know the benefits of hemp and i know i buy lots of hemp products- backpacks/walles/makeup/paper/whatever...<br><br><br><br>
ok, now i'm losing my train of thought so if i think of what i was trying to say i'll return later. for now, ignore me.

i honestly don't see how you could test a product on animals and still manage to sleep at night<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/bigcry.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="">

Wow... hemp in makeup. I've seen it alright, but I never drew that connection between hippies and makeup. That is entertaining to think about.<br><br><br><br>
A story for all the ladies who don't wear cruelty-free makeup (which is your right)...<br><br><br><br>
I worked at a grocery store in highschool, and all the scraps from the cut meat, and bones, etc went into one of two large plastic drums in the meat room. Along with those scraps went any of the meat on the shelf that was going bad and not selling. These barrels were sold to a makeup company that would come and get them every few days. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/grin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":D">
