ok.............i always order a vegetarian garlic chicken from a chinese restraunt that specializes in veggie food...........but i know for certain the "meat" is not tofu you buy from any regular store. I saw him take it out and cut it up into little cubes. It was a white and red wrapping......wrapped up like a sausage and it was a white color........i dont know what it is? does anyone know?!??! id like to cook it for myself!

Odds are, it's seitan, which is made from wheat gluten. You can buy it in various states of preparation, and also you can make your own.

would you really want to be buying/trusting someone to make your food, especially if you are uncertain about it, when he is such a bad guy that you cant even ask him? :S

Why would you order anything from someone who you choose to call the names you used? How rude.

There's 282837464 recipes for Asian Garlic Chicken all over the internet. Find one and just use something else for the real chicken.

Also - how do you "know" it's not seitan? Seitan can taste like MANY different things depending on how it's cooked.

The Chinese have been making mock meats for hundreds of years. They pretty much have it down pat. Whatever product your "friend" was using could be any number of Asian vegetarian mock meats. Go to your local Asian store and check out how many mock meats they have, you may be surprised!

And don't call people names.

I would highly recommend trying Morningstar Farms "Ready Strips" for the chicken. They're about the closest thing to vegetarian chicken I've found.

Here's one Chinese garlic chicken recipe I've found: http://chinesefood.about.com/od/poul...licchicken.htm. It sounds like you might just be able to get away with not using the chicken (substitute MF Ready Strips instead). My guess is that the garlic sauce you were eating was a mixture of soysauce, garlic, and cornstarch.
