gender: female

age: 18

occupation: student right now

weight: um...120lbs...ISH.

height: 5'4"

reasons for becoming vegetarian: disgust at factory farm conditions, moral objection to killing animals for food. I thought the environmental benifits were good too, but they weren't my main reason.

list down 3 favourite vegetarian foods/snacks: dark chocolate, hummus, crisps (potato chips). Not all together

what do you eat for

snack: um...lots of different things. Depending on how "healthy" I feel like being that day, it could be anything from crisps (potato chips), chocolate, cookies, to hummus & veg, a piece of fruit, or some salad.

breakfast: on weekdays, usually either cornflakes-type cereal & rice or soy milk, or porridge (oatmeal) with raisins or golden syrup. On weekends I often have a big breakfast of veggie burgers, baked beans, toast, veggie sausages, etc.

lunch: on weekends, pasta and sauce, or veg. spaghetti bolognase, or beans on toast...loads of stuff, those are just a few examples.

dinner: could be practically anything, but I'm especially keen on curries or tortillas + salad + marinaded tofu.

age: 33

occupation: computer software support

weight: 155 lb

height: 5'8"

reasons for becoming vegetarian: I like animals too much to kill them. The health and environmental factors are good, too.

list down 3 favourite vegetarian foods/snacks: chocolate, vanilla soy milk (it tastes like drinking vanilla ice cream), and carrot sticks (I know it's a cliche, but I actually sit and munch on carrots all day at work)

what do you eat for

snack: chocolate, potato chips, pretzels, cookiees when I'm not being healthy, or else carrot sticks and celery sticks whenever I'm trying to lose weight (like now)

breakfast: cereal or a bagel, unless I'm running late, in which case, I usually just grab a granola bar at my desk when I get to work

lunch: PBJ sandwiches, TV Dinners (Amy's, Yves, etc), leftovers from recent dinners, Subway veggie patty sandwiches, falafel sandwich

dinner: Spaghetti, tofu and stir fry veggies over brown rice, sometimes just TV dinners or fake meat burgers when I'm feeling lazy, eating out at Chinese, Indian, or falafel restaurants

You should probably add in two additional questions:

What type of vegetarian do you consider yourself?

("near vegan" - I'm lacto-ovo veg, but I don't buy eggs or dairy products. I don't obsess over avoiding trace amounts of them as ingredients in things, though, so I'm not really vegan)

and

How long have you been a vegetarian?

(2 months)

reasons for becoming vegetarian: Mostly ethical and environmental. The meatpacking industry is extremely cruel to animals and its workers, and financially supports politics that I oppose. Meat is THE most inefficient food source from an environmental standpoint. It can also contribute to many health problems. For all of these reasons, I've decided not to financially support this industry or the mass consumption it promotes.

3) Portobello Stroganoff with Brown Rice

what do you eat for

Here's a sampling, I eat too many things to list, but this will give you an idea.

snack: Granola bars, whole grain pretzels, edamame, chocolate, fruit.

breakfast: Fruit, oatmeal, protein shake or bars.

lunch: Veggie/hummus sandwich or wrap, tofu stirfry with brown rice, salad, leftovers from dinner.

dinner: Dish made with meat substitute (tofu, seitan, tvp, tempeh) & brown rice, pizza, risotto, pasta dishes with veggies and cheese, veggie burgers, veggie burritos, grilled veggie sandwiches.

reasons for becoming vegetarian: Spiritual/religious, environmental, and a life-long discomfort with eating meat. I cut eggs and dairy partially due to the same spiritual and moral concerns that stopped me eating meat, and partially due to health - it's too easy for a new veg to eat nothing but the eggs and the cheese. Or maybe that was just me.

reasons for becoming vegetarian: I couldn't think of a good reason to ask an animal to give up its life so I could eat. When I stopped to think about it, it also seemed pretty gross to be eating a dead animal.

list down 3 favourite vegetarian foods/snacks: pasta (macaroni and cheese lately), beans (in various types of dishes from mexican to indian to french etc.), spinach phyllo pie.

what do you eat for

snack: crackers, applesauce, rice crisps, (Luna Bar today)

breakfast: toast and veggie sausage usually, with OJ

lunch: it varies - sometimes an Amy's meal, or a sandwich, or pasta, or leftovers from the night before, or a Subway veggie sub. Today it was at a catered meal - a salad of some batter fried veggies over pasta and greens.

dinner: It varies - pizza, pasta, beans and rice, mexican - it just depends what I'm in the mood for. Probably a veggie pizza tonight. There's never a lack of variety if you're vegetarian.

I don't feel like I have any right to kill and eat animals.

list down 3 favourite vegetarian foods/snacks:

Oh dear.. only 3...

Vegetable Sushi, Pasta with any number of sauces/things mixed in, fresh bread

what do you eat for

snack: Depends on the time of day... fruit, crackers/pita with hummus, cereal, tea biscuits, leftovers, veggies, graham crackers and PB or Jam (or both), pretzels, nuts, occasionally tortilla chips or tings

breakfast: oatmeal!! It's usually oatmeal, +/- fresh fruit and walnuts or pecans. If not oatmeal, then cream of wheat or toast with jam, sometimes I'll make homemade muffins (oat bran, banana, pumpkin, etc...), and on weekends if I've got time I'll make pancakes or waffles with fresh fruit and maple syrup. I'll sometimes allow myself a bagel with earth balance or tofutti cream cheese.

lunch: Leftovers! I usually pack leftovers in my lunch box. Today I had a piece of vegan spanikopita, 1/4 ww pita w/ hummus, 2 small sweet potato biscuits, fruit salad, and 2 fig newmans. Yesterday was the same side dishes, but with risotto (so no spanikopita or pita/hummus). If I'm home, again, leftovers, or veggie sandwiches, soup, bagel with assorted nonsense..

dinner: Dinners this week were... Spanikopita, ww pita, and hummus; wheat loaf, wasabi mashed potatoes, and steamed veggies; Corn chowder and Sweet potato biscuits; Vegetable risotto, baguette. Last week we had... roasted veggies and rice pilaf; eggplant noodle cassarole; veggie stir fry with seitan and brown rice... that's as far back as I remember.

gender: Female- although I should correct you on your use of the term "gender". "Gender" is a socities' norms associated with a certain sex. I believe the term you are looking for is sex. Sorry, but I just thought that you should know this. It's helpful and amusing to know, espcially when you piss off the people at your dentist's office by correcting their forms. ^.^

age: 15

occupation: High school studen. Beyond that- currentley seeking a part time job.

weight: 125-ish.

height: 5"7

reasons for becoming vegetarian: After learning that the meat industry contributed to world hunger, that was it for me. Beyond that, I find it absurd to kill another living being just to feed ourselves when it has been proven that a) we have the means to survive as herbavores and b) we have the means to go against our instinct.

list down 3 favourite vegetarian foods/snacks:

JUST THREE???? :[

Dates

Homemade Smoothies

Homemade hummus!

what do you eat for

snack: Hummus, walnuts, almonds, whole wheat anything, chocolate vegan muffins, soy ice cream (although I'm never buying it again because everytime I do I end up eating most or all of it in one sitting), frozen vegtables, cooked vegtables, fruit, soy yogurt, soy cheese, luna bars.

breakfast: Usually dry cereal or fruit because I like to eat on my way to school. Breakfast is pretty small like that, but between first and second period I like to eat some almonds or a luna bar.

lunch: I really like lunch! It's usually a bunch of vegtables, like spinach and peppers, with some sort of grain like polenta or quinoa, and some fruit, like mandarin oranges or pears.

dinner: I haven't been eating an official "dinner" latley. I usually just eat snaks from the time I get home and whenever I'm hungry. It's just what I've been doing for a while and it's nice mixing up what I eat for the day. Take today for example: I get home, make bannana-cornmeal pancakes, later I have some tofu in homemade BBQ sauce on toasted bread, then I had a bannana cranberry pomogrante smoothie, and I just had a green tea pomogrante bannana smoothie and some almonds. I might make some quinoa later if I'm hungry again. Maybe a luna bar. Depends on my hunger.
