Hahaha, I totally should get an award for the stupidest topic title ever... seriously though, I need a banana costume for a birthday present for my friend. I can't find one anywhere, and I'd settle for (maybe even prefer) a pattern to make one myself, but I can't find anything anywhere. You'd think someone has at one point in time wanted to wear a banana suit!!!

For those of you wondering why the heck I'm giving my friend a banana for her birthday... It all starts with this link:

http://www.people.virginia.edu/~rdf7d/banana.swf

Yeah... I have to do a real life version of that. Like, I'm going to wear the banana suit and dance on camera to that song. See how desperately important this is!?!? If you help me find the suit, I'll try and find a way to put the video on the web! ^_^!

Anyway, yeah... very odd thread, I know. Any help is greatly appreciated

Couldn't you just take two large pieces of crescent-shaped fabric and sew them together (kind of like a pea pod)? Don't sew the bottom so you can slip into it, cut out holes for your face and arms and maybe wear a yellow t-shirt underneath. Then you'd have to do something for the stem.

Well I'm thinking it would just flop over on top though... especially if I'm dancing in it. I guess I could use wiring. I'll keep that in mind. Thanks!

Oh ok, more specifically what I was thinking was felt, I don't think that would flop over like fabric would. Especially if you just sewed two pieces together. I'm not sure how much that would cost though.

You do know we're going to need pictures, right?

My friend makes costumes. They can make anything if you ask them to. You should consider hiring someone similar in your area.

The secret to a costume like that is to make it out of foam, not felt.

Make a foam tubey-shaped body, and a foam coneheady-banana hat, and use fabric around the outside as a floppy peel. BUt you'll need the foam for it to be stiff enough.

Whatever. It's good for when the girls say "Is that felt?" and you say "It will be after you touch it."

That made me laugh way too much! I think I need to get a nap!
