Hi. I'm new 'round these parts (obviously).

I'm a full-time university student in England. I became a vegetarian a while back, but since starting university and moving into my own room (albeit with a kitchen shared with four guys who are big on steak... urgh) I've been able to start moving towards veganism (despite problems with the local shops, which are, to be honest, hopeless).

I originally went veg for the animal welfare issues, although I've noticed that I'm a lot healthier than before (I never really exercised before, but I'm now walking to town and back (two miles uphill) a few times a week). None of my flatmates seem to have actually noticed that I'm a vegetarian and almost-vegan yet, despite my bizarre insistences on "no cows' milk in the coffee machine" and "please don't eat sausages in my room". My parents still don't know I'm a vegetarian, but they're taking me out for a meal tomorrow, so I guess they'll find out soon enough.

Anyway, I signed up here because I'm a hopeless cook, and I should be able to pick up some tips.
I look forward to discussing stuff.

Hi Dave! Welcome! I'm in England too and we have a 'UK' thread on this forum to discuss UK issues.

What are you studying? And, if it's not too much 'personal info' for the internet, what University are you at?
