Hi,

I just joined this forum, and I love it!

A little about me -

I am 14 years old. I have a twin sister and two great parents. And I have an adorable pug and a chinchilla

Also, I don't know what you all think of the humanity of having a pet as a vegetarian or vegan, but I had my pets before I decided to become a veg*n and I'm not giving them up! Plus, I rescued my chinchilla, so it was for his good as well. He was going to be either raised to breed or killed for his fur, so I think I did him a favor by giving him a nice life with me

I am in the process of becoming a lacto vegetarian, so any advice and guidance for a young person starting out into the world of vegetarianism would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Welcome, Rebecca. Glad to hear you're not going to be giving up your companion animals. I know some ARAs oppose keeping "pets", but my own opinion on the matter is that it's the breeding and selling that's the problem, not giving homes to those in need of them. Providing that is good!

If you become interested in veganism, be sure to check out the vegan discussion subforum on here, and feel free to ask any of us questions.

Hello and welcome!

You're among pet lovers here. You'll find that many of us have animals in our lives, and the fact that your chinchilla is a rescue is really great. If you're interested in any book ideas, I would recommend "The Vegetarian Bible". It was the first book I got when I decided to go vegetarian and has a lot of good recipes and ideas.
