I didn't grow up in a vegetarian environment, it was until I turned 12 years old that I began to turn my lifestyle around. The main reason I turned vegetarian at such a young age was because of a pet rabbit I had. Fluffy unfortunately died and my brother, made a rude comment about "now being able to eat him". I actually asked my mom what he meant by that, and being my naive 12 year old self, my mom said there are people in different countries that eat rabbits. Ever since then, I became a vegetarian refusing to eat any form of meat.

Growing up, I've had to struggle with other people who weren't vegetarians about my change of lifestyle. I think my family were worried that I wasn't getting the right amount of nutrition needed to develop while growing. I was relatively strong for quite some time until going into college at 18 or 19 I gave in and stopped being vegetarian.

So, now I'm back into it after 3 years, I recently bought tofu and went online to search for recipes. It wasn't until then that I saw the PETA website and It just reminded me again of Fluffy. Now, that I'm older I want to do this the right way and hopefully make this my permanent lifestyle. Before, I didn't have the right information to do it the right way; it was mostly out of passion not to eat meat that enabled me to be vegetarian for so many years.

I'm looking forward to getting to know some of you :-D

Saxyphonist, glad to see a fellow Michigander on this forum. Can't believe it snowed after having such nice weather these past few days. Right?!
I'm actually in California for school right now, so I'm missing out on the wonderful Michigan winter. (I'll be back in Michigan just in time for spring.
