Nox here again

So I have recently switched to a vegan diet. My reason for this is because, I had watched a video that had showed what some people do in slaughterhouses across the states to different animals. Now my mom is trying her hardest to get me to eat meat...........
>.<....needless to say, not gonna happen. point blank. But she said something that I'm not sure about and need some second opinions on. Are people trying to change the regulations in slaughterhouses to make things more humane? It won't change my mind. I was just wondering.
Honestly I don't think things are going to change much any time soon. People are aware of what goes on in there, they just choose to ignore it, except for the few of us that actually act on it. And it's not hard for them to find people to do the job. They just send buses to Mexico and bring em back to the factory. If they get deported they'll find another one in no time. Helps if they make agreements w/ local law enforcement not to deport more than X workers per week.

Maybe the demand for "free range" or "grass fed" meats will increase slightly, but that doesn't really mean a lot for the animals. There's really only a few different companies running each meat industry. Mega corporations like that are always reluctant to change...the philosophy is to not mess w/ what works and what got them there.

p.s. welcome aboard and congratulations on becoming vegan

How ever you look at it, you are still killing a living being, it's really that simple and doesn't need to be complicated. Ask your Mum would it be okay to kill a innocent person in a humane way because a person wanted to?

Hey Nox... imagine someone mutilating your ear lobes, or cutting your teeth, or even rubbing chilli peppers in your eyes to keep you awake and on your feet. Would you like that being done to you or anyone you know and care about. How about doing it to your pet (if you have one). It's never a problem once its not affecting us, or anyone in our circle. The instance it comes in our circle, it suddenly becomes a problem. I don't don't see the regulations changing anytime soon. And even if it is done humanely its as Carley said above: "would it be okay to kill a innocent person in a humane way because a person wanted to? " You have done the right thing Nox.... by keeping Meat from Your Plate. One less mouth to consume murdered animal lives. Karma will repay your kindness...

Changing the regulations and seeing that the existing ones are actually more strictly enforced would reduce the net suffering in the world, but at the end of the day you'd be paying people to confine animals, and kill them needlessly, and I can't personally justify supporting that. I wouldn't buy meat no matter how well the animal is treated, because the animal is ultimately objectified and killed prematurely for my benefit, which is not something I'd approve of. I wouldn't want it done to me, or any animal I've ever loved, so why would I approve of it when it's done to other animals?

Humane is a veiled word, at least when it comes to slaughterhouses. You believe in the words "humane slaughter" when you take the bluepill.
Take the redpill, go vegan. (I'm on a Matrix streak, my apologies.)
