Whoa, kind of feel like im being attacked.QUOTE]

I wasn't trying to be rude or attacking. I just didn't want a young person who is already concerned with calories to get scared and eat less than they already were. Eating disorders happen when people get scared of food and I didn't want that to happen.

Sorry if I hurt your feelings.

Peachie I know it all sounds frustrating but take it a little at a time. I used to be a junk food freak! But I changed a little at a time and soon all of these suggestions you are getting will fall into place and they will feel like second nature. Don't give up, this is what the big agribusinesses and commercial junk food companies want, they want us to give up and just eat whatever we feel like eating (western diet). DOn't give up, it does take work to go against the current and being only 15 you are damn brave for trying. CONGRATS. Take little steps, you are doing fine. Hey I could have cared less about this stuff at 15 so I went on to have horrendous acne, bad constipation, hemmoriods and etc due to poor eating habits, good for you, you will work it all out in time.

If your school has a library... Check out some cookbooks! That's what I did and found a "low-carb vegetarian" cookbook that has alot of vegan recipes. It's really awesome and would be a great place to start. I am not saying to follow a low carb diet, but the recipes are quite low calorie and really complete when it comes with a nice variety of foods. Instead of egg white, what about lite tofu with some lite soysauce? That's what my sister and I do now that we are not eating eggs and such. Well, don't be scared or frustrated. It takes time to lose weight and time to change eating habits. Do a new one each day or week. One mile is just a whole bunch of small steps.... *tries to sound sagely*

If you are really interested in this , then perhaps it might be good for you to go and speak to a registered nutritionist. Although this place is great for advice, certain places online, and certain books or other information sources might lead you down the road of faddy dieting - not a place you want to be. Get adise from someone that you trust, who knows what they are talking about. Who is the healthiest person you know in real life? What do they eat? Can they give you any advice.

I have to say, also, that tinydancer's comments before were, I thought, quite sensible. It is quality, and calorie in-calorie out that matters. But if you don't feel like you are eating enough, fill up with salads and such things.

I hope you are doing ok, and that we have helped. People on here don't mean to be scarey, and you did ask for advice. But like GanyGreenBean said, it is one step at a time. Don't feel overwhelmed. You are doing great to even try, especially being a teenager. Go you!
