Researching toothpastes. I found Toms of Maine Vegan Toothpaste: talked about here:

Quote:

Here is the complete list of ingredients for this Toms of Maine vegan toothpaste: Calcium Carbonate, Glycerin, Water, Xylitol, Hydrated Silica, Zinc Citrate Trihydrate, Peppermint Oil, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Carrageenan, Sodium Bicarbonate

This is what my phone app says about Glycerin:

Quote:

GLYCERIN: Glycerine. Glycerol. Polyglycerol. Polytethylene Glycol (PEG). A byproduct of soap manufacture (normally used animal fat). In cosmetics, foods, mouthwashes, toothpastes, soaps, ointments, medicines, lubricants, transmission and brake fluids, plastics. Alternatives: vegetable or vegetable glycerin, a by-product of vegetable oil soap; derivatives of seaweed, petroleum.

Is it possible that they intend to mean vegetable glycerin because they claim they are vegan?

Halp!

Here's a link to their website where they talk about the glycerin they use in their toothpaste:

http://www.tomsofmaine.com/research/...etail/glycerin

Glycerin can be animal, vegetable or synthetic. In this case it's definitely vegetable or synthetic, no worries

Aye, it's not animal derived when it comes to Tom's. I <3 my non-fluoridated vegan toothpaste.

Thank you- I have much to learn!

I am currently transitioning all of my beauty products. I had been using up all the stuff I had before I was vegan 3 months ago, (we shop at BJ's for this stuff so we had a bunch of everything in bulk). Now its getting complicated and a total overhaul.
I am finding it easier to just find vegan products on vegan websites instead of going through everything and reading and looking up the million ingredients. But it might be a long road figuring out what is a good product for me and what isn't. I am excited to be completely animal product free, most likely by the end of the month!

What is it like on the teeth guys? Is it actually as good as other toothpastes, I mean at the moment I use Lush vegan toothy tabs but it doesn't completely feel like they're the best thing for my teeth. The dentist has got me paranoid lol

The best part (other than being vegan) is UNSWEETENED! You'll never realize how sweet most toothpastes are until you try one that doesn't taste like cupcake frosting.
