Has this ever happened to you?

I had a family member bring home food - apparently they ordered the wrong thing and I'm almost half way through my panini and I see meet - and I instantly just felt like crap - it's been years since I've touched meat/eaten it.

I don't know but when I said to the person who got it that there was meat on it they just shrugged their shoulders as if it was no big deal.

I don't think I'd be so furious if someone cared, but in this case it seems like no one respected that I've changed my lifestyle years ago and that it was just completely interrupted. I am so used to making my own food and not dealing with these issues, and I've not had any issues like this before but seriously having no compassion towards my beliefs and lifestyle is sickening to me I had to walk away and just tell myself this is not the end of the world.

It's not the end of the world, right??

(and sorry it's been a while since I've been around)

EDIT: is it wrong for me to want to go puke this up on purpose? should I? I hate asking.

I would really encourage you to let it go. A mistake should be forgiven.

Please don't make yourself vomit - it's not medically necessary in this situation, and it's unhealthy!

Thanks - I'm just still feeling sick a bit from the whole thing - but I'm trying. I don't have many things in my life I've accomplished and stuck with but this change in lifestyle has been something I have been secure about for so long and it just hurts, a lot.

I will live but seriously I don't want to contimplate what thoughts I could be right now so I need to keep my mind free and I don't know what else to do for now.

Thanks :)
i totally understand being more upset from the persons lack of caring than if I at least got some sympathy or a sorry.
yeah, let it go, but don't let anyone hand you food again! I remember about 3 months into being veg'n my son went out for Subway. He'd said he was getting a veggie the same, so I just picked one up and started on it. Something was very putrid tasting I couldn't figure out. I took a white chunk trying to dissect it. He came in and very upset himself as he got a chicken. I did throw up.
I'm not suggesting it, but do understand.

Your accomplishment remains 100% strong - this meat thing was an accident. We've all been there.

Thanks, I needed to hear that.

Much appreciated.
If it was a mistake, no problem. If the person just don't bother about your vegetarianism I would start a discussion.
It's an echo, but yes, as Deepak would say - be gentle with yourself and start again. It's not really about the amount of days you've been a vegetarian. It's about the conscious decision not to eat meat. You didn't consciously decide to eat meat in this case. Start again. The vegetarian gods won't smite you :)
