I just got an email about this.
I always have meals like this on hand for emergency lunches or when i'm just too tired to fix something for dinner. Some of my favorites from when I was a meat eater had chicken unfortunately. I'm glad to see they partnered with Gardein!

The price was the main selling point I was thinking. They are cheaper than many of the vegetarian/vegan specific brands, and I see coupons for them quite often. Money is tight right now, which is the main reason I haven't branched out to many of the vegetarian/vegan specific products yet. They probably wouldn't have many of the varieties that were vegan, but if these few do well maybe the demand would make them look into doing more and having some vegan options.

It's a pity that they went through the trouble of using one of the best vegan meats (Gardien) but then proceed to put dairy in every one of their dishes. I guess I won't be trying any of them.

I just saw this in the same cooler as the Boca/MSF products in the grocery store the other day but honestly I didn't even really read the box. I just assumed they were put in that section by accident. It's really cool that Lean Cuisine are making vegetarian meals though. Hopefully eventually they'll ditch the dairy.

A step in the right direction at least. And hopefully it will inspire other companies to do the same. It may even inspire some meat eaters to try meatless entrees and realize they can be just as delicious. If not it will probably trick a few Omnis into eating them before they realize. LOL

I think it's a huge step forward with such a main stream brand using vegan meat! Now they just need to take the next step to making them vegan.

I would really suggest that everyone who sees this emails the company and ask them to please consider in the future removing the dairy so that they are vegan and also point out the fact that not only vegans avoid eggs/dairy but also people who are intolerant or allergic.

*off to email and also thank them for making meatless options using a vegan meat*

I agree this is a huge step in the right direction. However, their sales won't reflect the entire veg*n customer base. Vegans would most likely snatch up a mainstream product because of price/convenience (I know I would). They should offer at least one meal that is vegan friendly. I would like to show my support, but I cannot. I'm afraid if sales are lackluster, board executives will just throw their hands up and say "well, we tried. I guess there's no market for vegetarian food".

Great idea. If people show them they appreciate their efforts and request vegan options as well then hopefully they will listen. There are more vegetarians out there than vegans, so if the vegetarian options do well then they may branch out. AND, if you read the first person's comment, they only tried ONE of the varieties and didn't check the other ones, so there may very well be a vegan option. I will be making a trip to the grocery this week so I will check it out. Thanks for pointing out that it was in a different section from the regular ones though. I may have missed them then been ticked off that my grocery didn't carry them!

Yeah I checked all four before posting and they all contain dairy.

I also had a survey thing pop up from Lean Cuisine when I went to the website yesterday and I filled it out and every chance I had I talked about how I hope they either veganize these entrees in the future or whatever they come out with in the future is vegan.

I went to the grocery today, and they aren't carrying the new Lean Cuisine products yet. I looked in the health food and regular frozen meal sections. I may check at another grocery chain and see if they have it, although their vegetarian/vegan section isn't as big.

This is great, I just wish they had a vegan entree. hopefully they'll do well, though, and they'll come out with a vegan option, too.

I've spotted them at several local grocery stores and Walmart. All have them separate from the vegetarian products AND the other frozen dinners. They might sell better if they were placed somewhere near similar products. :eyeroll:

Walmart has them. The store near me had them in the same section as the Amy's and Kashi meals. I don't normally shop there, but I went in looking for something else and grabbed one. I keep forgetting to look for them at Target.

Thanks for the tip. I'll check at Wal Mart too. I'm hoping that Kroger (the grocery I shop at the most) will eventually get them. They have a really good health food section and are pretty good about carrying new products.

Yum! So easy for a quick lunch. And Gardein is awesome - especially the Ch'ken and Good Stuff. Gosh, my favorite. Or the Ch'ken nuggets? Seriously? Gimme some deli mustard and barbeque and I'll eat the whole bag.
