Okay so this is just a personal rant, but I figured some people would enjoy a postive vegan story so here it is.

If anyone remembers, like a month or so ago I posted saying my boyfriend and coworkers were giving me a hard time as I transitioned over to veganism. I am happy to report that things have gotten sooo much better! The boyfriend has almost beome a dietary vegan himself (whatt? I know! crazy) at the grocery store he only buys yogurt and one bag of fat free cheese. He's completely content with all the fruits and veggies, mock meats, whole grains, and soy milks. The other day we were picking out a redbox and I paused over the candy asile, I picked up sour patch kids and he's like "grab me a box too, they're vegan right?" that's right, he selected candy based on whether it had animal products. He now refers to himself as a legit vegetarian for health reasons, he hasn't looked into the ethics of it. He just says "I know its terrible how they treat the animals, I'm doing my part by no longer eating meat, but I don't want to know what goes on". Good enough for me. :p He says I have one more chance to convince him on soy cheese (he has a bad experience when he bought a box of Amy's Soy Cheese pizza) so I'm going to the co-op to pick up Daiya today and I'm gonna have him try that in a quesadilla or something. I'm just so happy he's so onboard with this now.

At work, it's gotten better as well. My friends tell me I have "weird" taste buds for not wanting to eat dairy anymore but for the most part have gotten over it. I scoured the menu and invented my own vegan meals which I get various comments on some good, some bad. Once a coworker asked me to get her the same exact thing, so now the cooks joke when they make me my "special food" to check with everyone and make sure I won't be influencing the others to order the same thing 5 seconds later. And I've lost about 15 lbs since I went vegan so everyone's asking me what my "secret" is, which is a great ice breaker to have a conversation about how healthy my new vegan diet is.

And last but not least, I read Vegan: The New Ethics of Eating and loved it so I sent a copy to my mom. She said she's really liking it and had already been eating more vegetarian food to try and lose weight. Since reading the book she's commited to cutting back on dairy and meat and says she's also lost a couple pounds.
Also, my best friend came up this weekend and I found out she went vegan as well! I'm not sure when since she's not as "omg I'm vegan now and love telling people" as I am, but it was so nice to hear someone besides the people on veggie boards say "vegetarianism is a diet, veganism is a lifestyle." I guess that's why she's my best friend.
And my other friends 30 day l/o veg challenge is going great as well, everytime I talk to her she has nothing but good things to say.

Ok, done rambling. I'm just very happy with everything and thought I'd share.

EDIT: I had drinks with a friend last night, when we talked about my diet I just explained how disgusted I am with meat (he brought it up) and just got a text from him that said "I'm trying no meat for a week, what do I eat?" haha love it. apparently I just make people want to stop eating meat. It's a miracle.
