That is so annoying and it happens every once in a while.

I can't stand seeing products people just stick on shelves around the store because they no longer want them anyway (I feel that's so lazy, like not putting carts back or doing a half-assed job of it and totally blocking the whole buggy place ) but when it's a meat product in that little fridge area I go to, it really annoys me.

Maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't be surprised if some people would do that on purpose.

I have always been afraid of the conveyors. I bag all produce.

I should start bringing a plastic tray or something. So gross!

And the cross contamination thing at home is very serious. That is a good way to get yourself in the hospital or at least very sick.

My dad makes hamburger patties, making sure to clean his hands and put latex gloves on. But then he leaves the gloves on to go grab a beer out of the fridge, look through all the cupboards, etc. E. Coli everywhere!

I told my mother that when I am a parent I am not letting my small children in their kitchen for the sake of their health!

I went to this natural foods/organic store and they had sardines, tofu and beef stew in a can all on the same shelf. I just thought it was sort of odd.

I'm a u-scan op/checker at Kroger, and I can confirm the filth of the belts. Ours are cleaned nightly (and daily too, if we're not busy) but they are almost instantly dirty again, so it's almost pointless. In addition to the wide variety of contaminants already there, a surprising amount of people seem to think it's ok to let their children walk around on the countertops.

Can't complain too much though. I would never have tried to quit eating meat if I hadn't been forced to handle big, leaky packages of it all day.

My Kroger has put in quite a large "natural/organic/healthy" foods section next to the produce. This is quite lucky for me, as I live in a conservative, medium-small town that doesn't even have a healthfood store.

My Kroger is the same way! I live in a small town too where there aren't a lot of choices for veggie shopping. I was so happy to find our Kroger had all those good organic/veggie goods next to produce. ^_^

I honestly don't believe the majority of people stick meat in non-meat freezer to upset anyone. They see a freezer, they have something they don't want, they throw said item into freezer.

Although, I know a number of meat eaters that would have vomited at the sight of the eyeballs. Hmm....gives me an idea...

@GhostUser: WHAT? Don't do that, at least don't do what I think you're thinking of.
Also: I am now carrying sanitizing wipes around in my bag, no questions asked.

After working in a grocery store for 2.5 years I've been kind of desensitized to a lot of "gross out moments" however I did find my self want to throw up....also I cook for my boyfriend and he eats meat....idk if that means I suck but oh well
