Hi guys! I've just started making green smoothies so I can sneak in some more greens into my diet, but I have a few questions that I couldn't answer myself through googling.

Anyway, I know you're supposed to rotate your greens, but does that mean that you should, say, only buy spinach and just have spinach smoothies for one week, and then the next week buy kale, etc. Or does it mean that you should buy a little spinach, a little kale, etc and eat different greens throughout the week?

Also, I don't really mind the Kale taste anymore, so I've packed like three cups (and I really mean three full cups) of greens into each smoothie, but it hits my stomach really hard (can't think of another way to describe it). Should I cut back? What's the correct amount, in cups, to use? I don't seem to have this problem when I use 3 cups of spinach.

Thanks!

I love green smoothies! I used to just rotate my greens weekly, because if I bought too many greens I wouldn't get through them all. Sometimes I would have kale one week, have a weeks break from green smoothies and then have a week of spinach etc. So biweekly I guess?

I would just chuck a couple (2-3) of green leafs into my regular smoothies- one banana, a few handfuls of frozen berries, whatever other fruit I had around, plus some juice or soymilk.... yeah. Don't get too scientific about green smoothies! Its all healthy, just have what tastes good when you want it

hmmm 3 cups of greens into one smoothie sounds like a heck of a lot... my digestive system would hate me.

I'd say the same about the three cups! How in the world did you drink it all? You can cut that back to about a 1/3 if you want.

I never really thought of rotating my greens, but I use two at once in my smoothies, so far its just 1 cup kale and 1 cup spinach. I love the combination with a ripe pear so much that I don't want to change it.

I really cram the greens in mine. I'll use a whole head of greens (romaine, green leaf, red leaf, spinach) and a couple bananas to a cup of water. I don't know how many cups it works out to be, but it's at least a few. I hate kale smoothies. I blend the greens and water until smooth, then add the fruit. I drink the whole thing in one sitting. It's not hard. I don't feel stuffed.

Thanks for al the help! After having them for a little longer, the kale isn't really bothering me as much. Kale is strangely becoming my favorite over my other greens, because it tastes yummy and I really feel it! I know 3 cups is a lot of greens, but I only use fresh greens and when I've added everything (a banana, other fruit, small amount of juice), it's about 24-30oz of smoothie.
