Okay, so my friend's little brother has a band that's looking for a singer. This to me is a dream come true, because I have that typical teenager dream of wanting to be in a rock band.

Here's the problem: they're called Untamed Glory. I don't think they could have thought of anything stupider if they'd tried.

The other band I was going to be in (which unsurprisingly didn't work out) was going to be called Poor Ellsworth (we had a friend who was going into basic training and we felt bad for him) but then we decided it sounded too much like Good Charlotte, and that was kind of scary. And the first band that didn't work out was going to be called Where's Mulder because that was the summer that I was obsessed with The X-files.

So yeah. It's fun to think of band names! I'm going to try to get them to change it. Anyone want to help?

Ama - My friend has a stupider name for a band - his is called "Anarchist Holiday"... Maybe that's why we're not dating anymore, lol.

Anyway, no good suggestions. But do they have any injokes or anything? Those can make good band names.

My flatmate has an entirely list of bandnames he's thought of over the last few years, and he's waiting until a band comes out with one of his names!

The one I thought of recently, after looking at a poster with different types of peppers on it, was "Scotch Bonnet."

Something about that, I like...

Well, you could start the name with "The" which is really popular right now. Also, misspellings of common words are pretty cool too, and then there's always a random word wit ha numbe ron the end.

I've thouht how cool it would be to call a band "Beatles Comma The"

At work, we have a part of the wall where people like to put used pieces of tape. A long time ago, someone wrote "tape collection" beside the pile. Then later, someone else added "worm" and then "agency", so now it reads "tapeworm collection agency".

We always said that when we start our own band, we would call ourselves Tapeworm Collection Agency, but the imaginary band has since disbanded. So, that means the name is now free! How lucky are you???

Come on, you know you like the name.

Four Blind Inspectors Behind the Window

The No-More Coloured Green

The Bubbles

(dunno if that last one is already in use, but it's fittingly corny)

How about Stinky Puppy? Bet you can't guess where that came from.

I've always wanted to be in an all girl band called "Panti-Christ", but it never happened. It's like Anti-Christ, but with underwear.

Also, there's an episode of Fantasy Island that Scott Baio is on, and he's in this really chessy band called "Collins" so that would be funny, if you think the early 80s are funny, which I do.

Always thought it would be pretty cool to have a name that got its own free advertising, by picking on common public signs and picking that as the logo and name, so things like Yield, Fire Exit, Hotel, Motel, etc.

Other than that, books and songtitles have been successful and popular choices.

Pick an artist and go through their tiles and lyrics, perhaps Black Eyed Dog?

This has sooooo been done before, but "Free Beer" is good. Tonight at Sokol Hall, it's Free Beer.

We had lots of band names in college--mostly based on inside jokes. Fetus Pizza was my personal favorite. Me and a couple friends were 3 sheets to the wind and we called down to another friend's dorm room and said "Feed us pizza" over and over again, but she thought we were saying "Fetus Pizza." Yeah, it's gross and childish.

One of the ones I didn't suggest was "Drinks are on the house", another crowd pleaser. :)

Incedentally, Foetus was the central name for Jim Thirlwell's changing band name in the 80's. I'm sure most of the variations could potentially deeply offend, PM me if you really want to know.
