I'm the only vegitarian in my class at college. Its an animal care course. I expected a least one other, but no. One of them said I need to eat meat for nutritions. I told her to come here (veggie board) and tell that to the people who's been vegan for 14 years. (to her)

Another 'comeback' is to ask what nutritions you get from meat. I usually say so confidently that they back down. lol. But I've only said this to my nan and two of my friends. I don't tell people I'm a veggie. But I can give a small list of where I get my protien. My bro has cut out fish(doesn't eat anyway) and beef(doesn't eat much of anyway). He'll get there. And one of my friends said she was thinking of going veggie. The other said she needs meat when (don't read further guys! ) she's on her period. Because of iron. I put her striaght. Now she says she craves it when shes on. I'm waiting for her to go hunting with her cat and bite the head off of a bird if she doesn't get enough meat to sooth her 'preditory instints' lol.

I think being a vegetarian is cool, but definitely not a fad.

at school i know a few. it's funny because i actually became a vegetarian as a result of peer pressure. i had always wanted to, but the thing that got me was being embarrassed buying chicken sandwiches in front of the cool senior guys who were vegan.

my school is terrrible for veg lunches. there's a salad bar one day out of the week, and any vegetarian meals are not vegan. that's why i just bring lunch, and i even don't have a lunch scheduled because it's kind of a waste of time when i can eat in class.

How cool! Yeah we shouldn't despise peer pressure. We should use it for our purposes!

i am a teenager, and i can definitely say that at school there are plenty of people who used to be complete meat-eating freaks that couldn't understand how I could ever go vegetarian, but now they're all going veg... the peer pressure thing is huge too.

This kind of article is cool. Now the meat industry has already noticed that kids are starting to turn down meat. There's little point in telling vegetarians to eat meat, since they won't bother. So make them into meat eaters earlier, and you'll prevent vegetarianism in later life, or so the theory goes.

And thus was born:

www.cool-2b-real.com The site that needs little introduction.

And as for the soap thingy, that sucks. The only Tv show that i think is worth watching is the simpsons - And matt groening is given free reign to create the show the way he wants - Not how the corporate sponsors want. That's why it's such a good show. Oh, and it has a vegetarian character. The thing is that I expected lisa to be a vegetarian before I even saw the vegetarian episode.

That website is so stupid- it just shows how desperate they are and how badly misleading they are. Is there a counter vegetarian website to it?

There ain't a counter-website, but I was thinking it'd be cool to make a website myself, using the URL www.cool-2b-veg.com and turn it into a vegetarian resource website for kids and teenagers (a la www.vegetarianteen.com) Of course, my apathy and lack of computer knowledge has meant that I haven't done it, and I probably won't do it either.

Old thread, but I was checking out the Peta2 site and was surprised about how many musicians were on there - Goldfinger, members of Maroon 5 and fudge other bands . . . I guess that makes vegetarianism and animal rights cool too.

I just saw this website. I'd like to point out, that they talk about the discouraging lack of protein young girls are getting, and state that

"Less than one-quarter of girls eat the recommended amount from the Meat Group". To that I say: .

Very cool! Maybe if these teens become veggies and then when when they are adults and have kids they will raise them as veggies and the number of vegetarians will go up a lot! Yeah!

My sister was telling me last week about how a lot of girls at her school are "vegetarian" now. She says they're either not really vegetarian or that they're just doing it to be cool. She sounded so proud because when she went veg 5 years ago (she's 15 now) she was the only one she knew of at school.

I figure whatever the reason it's having some impact.

I keep hearing about how "trendy" it is to be a vegetarian in college.

Apparently Cape Girardeau hasn't gotten the memo.
