I am about 17 weeks pregnant with our first child. My husband and I are incredibly excited. Something I am not excited about, however, is how unhealthy my food consumption has been. About a year ago, I went vegan for about two months but I was simultaneously dealing with an eating disorder so I reverted to vegetarianism. Now that I'm pregnant, I feel that I may be in a position to where I can handle going vegan because I'm being forced to consume enough calories (and have actually been consuming TOO many). Has anyone here gone vegan while pregnant? I know it's entirely possible to be vegan during pregnancy. I just wasn't sure that making such a drastic change in diet would be okay in the middle of a pregnancy. Thoughts?

Also, I don't want you guys to think that I want to go vegan to start my ED again. I just generally feel better when I'm not consuming animal products and I thought it might make my mood and health better. And, it would take away the guilt I feel from consuming dairy and egg products.

I posted this link earlier today in the other section, I think it might be helpful for you:
http://www.vrg.org/nutrition/veganpregnancy.htm

I went vegetarian (not vegan yet) in the middle of my last pregnancy, at about 30 weeks or so, but my daughter was already developed for the most part so I don't think it affected anything. I am vegan now, if I ever have another baby I will stay vegan.

Good luck and congrats!
