I'm confused to see glycerine listed in my Vegan labeled face wash. What's up with glycerine? Is it always Vegan, sometimes Vegan? No source is listed on this bottle (it just says glycerine) but it is labeled as "NO animal or human derived ingredients" and "Cruelty free"

i bet its vegetable glycerine

http://www.botanical.com/products/le...glycerine.html

glycerine is made from fat, so it can be animal or vegetable. if you're not sure, you should check with the manufactorer, but if its labelled vegan, it'll be vegetable glycerine.

whether or not its vegetable glycerine or not depends on what fat they used to make it.... so it could be made from tallow, grease, fish oils, or vegetable oils.

if you're buying vegetarian or vegan or animal product free stuff, it will be vegetable glycerine, but in other stuff, it might be made from beef fat.... mmmmmm.

ETA: still, it could be worse, have you ever seen the movie Fight Club, lol?

Like hoodedclawjen said, sometimes it's made from vegetables and sometimes it's from animal fat. Here's a recipe I made for a facial scrub. I use it everyday and it really help with my acne, and it makes my skin very smooth.

1 cup brown sugar (I don't recommend using raw because it's too abrasive)

1/4 cup smooth peanut butter

2 TBS molasses or maple syrup

zest of 1 orange

1/4-1/2 TSP tea tree oil (optional-you can find it at health food stores, it had anti-bacterial properties that kill acne)

2 TBS olive oil

1 TBS unsweetened cocoa powder

Mix everything together until well combined. It should be kinda dry. Store tightly sealed between uses.

This sounds awesome! I just started making my own face/body scrubs/washes. Last night I even hosted a facial party. I made different facial masks using a variety of blends of tofu, avocado, oatmeal, ground almonds, peaches, agave nectar, cucumbers....it was loads of fun and our faces were nice and smooth. I'm definitely going to try your recipe next!
