Is anyone else kind of glad the holidays are over?

Although, the holidays can be fun, I really get sick of the fact that everything kind of gets put on hold. Stores are not open, post office is closed, some people kind of drag there feet on stuff they normally keep up with (answering emails, returning phone calls)

It will be nice for everything to be back to normal.

I have enjoyed having time off work, but I was also very relieved to get back home last night. Family can be quite the test of one's patience!

I'm not. I don't shop or mail many things and the people I most wanted email from came through in spades this past holiday. I wish I could go back there right now.

I get visually overstimulated during the holidays. While I love the initial decorating and additional "stuff" around, I get tired of it all very quickly. I get completely oversaturated and sick of the color red (which is not good for a painter!!!). My family teases me about how I would really like to start undecorating Christmas night.

Aren't holidays just so over commercialized now? I mean you have Christmas decorations out for sale during Halloween. I was just in Wal-Mart last week and there is stuff for Valentine's Day out already. Can't we get over one before they start another? And yes, I am glad it's over for this past year. 'Afraid I was a bit of a 'scrooge' this Christmas.

Brightest Blessings,

I am glad! I start my Christmas budgeting in October. It will be good to have extra money again. I will miss the activity of the season though. January through March is the most boring time of the year.

My three year old niece was in the hosital Christmas Eve. One of her older cousins gave her a cookie with nuts in it and she is highly allergic. I still can't understand why my brother-in-law's family seems to find it so hard to keep nuts out of the house when she's around. I'm a vegetarian who loves nuts and I managed to have plenty of treats that ALL the kids could eat!

I'm glad the holidays are over, too. It was just tight on the budget, stressful family situations, and the weather had everyone sick. Hopefully next year gets better.

Thank you. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. She went in for an appy and was discharged 4 days later. 24 hours later we were back for another 5 days because of a bacterial infection. On her 3rd CT scan they found a spot on her liver so she has to have another one in 2 weeks to see if the spot is gone.

I am taking down my decorations tomorrow. I didn't even want to decorate but everyone else thought I should. They are only up for 4 weeks so why bother. Next year I may just put up the tree and say that's it.

I hate it when the holidays end because after the new year there are no holidays to look foward to, spring is still far away, school is back, all the gorgeous decorations are gone, and all the cheer is gone.

Not me. I wish it could be Yule all the time. Coming down off the holiday high just bums me out. I jokingly asked Mr. Tess if we could just leave the tree up year round and decorate it for different holidays. OTOH, I have to admit I'm a little sick of it all by late December, considering the hype seems to start mid-October these days.

In fact, the post-holiday letdown is a very real phenomenon, and my doctor strongly advises against making any kind of major lifestyle changes in January because the post-stress or letdown period is already hard on your system, and making changes to medication, diet, or lifestyle will only make it worse. I think that may be why so many New Year's resolutions fail. We'd probably do a lot better with them if we could just ease into them during January instead of trying to make massive changes on January 1.

Not only did I not take time off, I ended up working overtime to cover my co-workers who wanted time off. Add to that staying awake to cook pies, bread and cookies for Christmas Eve dinner. Between Friday morning in the 29th and 12:30 am on Christmas morning I got 4 hours of sleep.

As much fun as that was, I'm glad the holidays are over.

I am sooo sorry to hear about this hope she is doing better now.

I am Not Happy The Holidays are over...I Love them...The spirit of the season spending time with Family and Friends...Helping People doing charitable things...I do that all year though...Love putting up all the decorations and the Tree....and The Movies and Music...People are nicer...Its a great time..guess the only part that saddens me is taking it all down...I joked about keeping up the tree all year but wondered how i would dust it and keep the ornaments clean..hehe..

I like the holidays, but it's so crazy at work that it's nice to get everything back to normal and I can actually get things done rather than just trying to put out fires and help everyone else out.

I worked enough in December to have 5 full days banked (which I am just taking the last of now). I will also hopefully be able to see my BF more than 3 times this month.

I agree with Jan- March being the most boring months of the year. That's why I'm trying to keep busy during this time, as well as take a week of Vacation in February.
