Hi there!! I know I haven't been vegan for long but i decided to go vegan after going to a farm with somebody and hearing a pig scream really loudly and seeing 'staff' harass it... not getting into too much detail.
My main issue that I felt sick to eat meat, dairy products and animal produce after and I looked into the vegan lifestyle and now im here. However I have NO support from friends or family, telling me its a phase, laughing or calling me 'basic' or 'sad'. I have been really down about this but I dont want to condone murder anymore for other people.. Im really stuck and have been feeling really left out, and upset over this.

I think your family are in a phase. If you keep your "phase" (which isn't) longer, they will understand you better.

Can you tell us your age, so when can give you the right support?

Hi Yassy,

Mercy For Animals has a beautifully-illustrated Vegetarian (actually vegan) Starter Guide, free to download. It summarizes vegan nutrition on page 13, and it has very easy meal ideas throughout: http://www.mercyforanimals.org/files/VSG.pdf

Here are nutrients to pay attention to on a vegan diet: http://veganhealth.org/articles/dailyrecs

Your family will eventually accept your new diet, as long as you remain healthy and don't try to push them. As the years go by, your family will notice that you remain healthy, and they might be inspired to become vegetarian themselves.

"calling me 'basic'" - Are your friends and family a bunch of 16 year old teenagers?
