I've seen that on German TV. While I think he's right about<br><br>
"Instead of building bombs, the [North Korean] government should feed its people" I doubt that "they have enough rice, potatoes and grass” (to feed the rabbits 1 kg of these a day as it’s said). There might be enough grass in North Korea, but from what I've heard/read there certainly is no abundance of rice or potatoes. Many people in North Korea are starving already. It seems absurd to me to funnel the few resources they have through these rabbits or any other animals, instead of giving the plant foods to the people directly....<br><br>
ETA: In fact I think I once read that there are humans in North Korea who are eating grass already... These rabbits are no solution to hunger. I feel sorry both for the humans AND the rabbits.

yes, I mean doesn't it make more sense to use plant proteins to feed the people than to waste food feeding huge rabbits?

If the North Koreans can barely feed themselves, what makes you think they can feed "giant" rabbits who have a huge appetite?</div>

<br>
The fact that it happens around the world all the time maybe? There are countries whose people are starving, yet their governments sell crops as animal feed to rich countries. Why shouldn't there be poor countries who import rabbits to produce meat, wasting their own already barely sufficient plant food ressources as animal feed? Human stupidity is unlimited. People are easily made to believe (especially by those who want to sell it) that they need meat more than anything else on the table.

Our county fair does something like this, only they get kids to do it. Yeah, Wisconsin meat rabbits. I don't know if they're quite that large, I don't think I've ever seen them.<br><br>
It's really terrible, 4-H kids spend all this time raising an animal- cow, pig, rabbit, chicken, whatever. They wait all year for the fair, and they must grow attatched... Then, it's shown at the fair for two, three days... Then auctioned for slaughter. Prices based on how well the animal was judged.<br><br>
One year a pig that was brought had a disease, and to be safe they killed every single pig that went to the fair that year, whether it had contacted the diesease or not. I guess they would have been slaughtered anyways, and maybe euthanasia is better...<br><br>
I dislike the fair.

"A single one of Smolinsky's animals can yield 15 lbs of meat, a delicacy rare in North Korea. <b>It's doubtful, though, that the rabbits will grow as large over there. Smolinsky feeds each of his rabbits 2lbs of high quality food per day. That's twice as much as the daily ration for humans in North Korea."<br><br></b><br><br>

sickening. I think about how unnatural these rabbits look, how miserable their lives must be, not to mention the trip over to North Korea. Sigh.

Yah...I've overheard some of my classmate yelling across the room about this situation. I thought it was a lie but i guess it's true. Evil HUMANS!!! Poor bunnies how can they do that to them. First of all it's unnatura, and second of all it's cruel towards the animals, they probably develop some kind of weird disease with all that breading people should just find a better way producing more crops because as we know it, global warming is strongly affecting weather climates and in a couple of decades, places that were once farm land will become desserts or part of the ocean. Climates will be changing water level will be rising, crops will be failing. The prices of vegetation will be sky high.
