Han made a living through criminal activity; it's why they made him a general.

Then again, George Lucas thought Jar Jar Binks was a good idea, so yeah, Lucas is crazy. Thinking about seeing the Phantom Menace this weekend in 3D, but I dunno ... is it possibly to make Jake Lloyd's acting three-dimensional? Doubtful. Yeah, I know, he was a kid, but there were better child actors than him, that's for sure.

Marie was kind enough to give me her late husband's laser-disc player and his collection of laser discs some years ago, simply for reimbursing her for the cost of shipping. One of the things the original Star Wars movies on laser-disc show is that Han did shoot first. These scenes were apparently later edited or changed on some of the DVD releases.

I never really understood what the big deal was about who shot first, but in general I want to see a movie as originally made--without editing, censorship, Bowdlerization, etc.

I never gave a **** about Han anyways. The trilogy would be much better if they cut his lines and combined his and Chewbacca's roles.

I've wanted to punch George Lucas in the face ever since he started tinkering with Star Wars back in 1977.

What would that entail exactly? Would Chewbacca just be a little more handsome?

No. "Han" would be taller and furrier, and would basically be like the smaller robot, in that he'd just make his signature noises but everyone would understand what it was he was talking about.

It's rather pathetic that this series is his only claim to fame and he is beating a dead horse. It was a good franchise, but move on. Make some more movies and quit living in the past, George!

Well there IS a little-known franchise known as "Indiana Jones" that both he and Steven Spielberg were involved in.

Thankfully, we'll never see a "Howard the Duck" sequel anytime soon.

What pisses me off most about the whole 'Han shot first' debacle is that George Lucas is trying to rewrite history and in addition it makes no sense whatsoever. The man has simply gone insane. Greedo was a trained bounty hunter and had his gun trained on Han from across the table for no more than three feet. He so much as announced that he was about to shoot Han. Certainly Han shooting first was not cold-blooded, in fact his shooting Greedo was something that endeared us all to him. Give me a freaking break.

Honestly who shot who first isn't even the change I have the biggest problem with, as ridiculous as that whole argument is. CGI Jabba...

Guys, if you've never watched Redlettermedia's review of the Star Wars prequels, they're hilarious and spot on reviews. You should start with part 1 of episode 1 and watch all of them when you get time. Kinda NSFW language and raw humor but very enjoyable.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxKtZmQgxrI

Further evidence that any character that Harrison Ford plays, does not play fair:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4DzcOCyHDqc

I couldn't agree more, but I don't think the fans are completely blameless. They're the ones who bought up tickets for the "prequels" and all the revamped, reedited home video versions of all the Star Wars movies, thus letting Lucas believe that the entire planet loves every little thing he does and he can go on living his life based on Star Wars and tweaking and retweaking the movies.

Disclaimer: I saw the first three movies when they were first released to theaters, never bought any home video/DVD version of any of them, and haven't bothered to see the prequels. Also, I don't think I've even seen the first 3 movies in their entirety since the first time I saw them in the theaters. So what I remember of the movies is a little murky at this point, but I enjoyed them enough to keep my memories of those movies exactly the way they are.

Although I may not mind seeing Carrie Fisher in that metal bra once again.

Supposedly, that was an idea from Harrison Ford. It was supposed to be a sword/whip fight scene, but Harrison Ford was sick at the time, it was hot out, and Ford suggested to Spielberg that they just shoot the guy instead.
