Well after i've became a vegetarian again...I've gain some weight...not a lot but some. I'm probably the only idiot who has. People are probably like omg?! how the hell do you gain weight from a vegetarian diet?! The first time I've stop eating meat, I've lost weight, but now that I'm a vegetarian, i love shopping for food and staring at labels. I am appreciating food more than ever before. Did any of you have a similar problem? What is the cause of this weight gain? Is it some kind of psychological thing?

I dont know hahah i'm guessing a nutritious meal maybe? hahah 1/4 cup beans w/ around hm... 1/3 inch by 3 inch each of vegan cheddar and mozzarella cheese, 1/3 bowl rice if not rice, half a lavash wrap, a slice of onion, 1/2 inch by 2 in tempeh lots of cayenne pepper and some salt. Lots of vegetables and 1/3 of rice for dinner, Lots of fruits through out the day. Other days I would be eating noodles with 2 tbsp cottage cheese, and 2 tbsp lowfat yogurt. or 2 bowl of cereal with 1 cup of soy milk. i don't know stuff hahahahah

you can use fitday.com to track your calories and see if you're eating too much. Also, it looks like you're eating a lot of calorie-dense food and carbohydrates (rice, noodles, cheese, yogurt, 2 bowls of cereal). That will add up quickly.

Lol, nah, I'm almost vegan after making the switch a couple of months ago and I've gained a few kilos too! I think it's cause I'm eating more carby type stuff and in general I LOVE veg food so I think I'm eating a bit more than I used to I'm hoping that once the novelty of all the yum food has worn off a bit my weight will settle back down. It's only been a couple of kilo's.

I put on weight when I first went veg. It's not uncommon at all. I won't reiterate the advice given above though, OregonAmy pretty much said what I'd have said.

My weight didn't do anything until I put on about 4kg eating too many carbs in the work cafeteria (their idea of vegetarian is putting cheese in everything, so there's nothing else for me to eat there). When that started messing with my blood sugar, I switched to eating less lunch and more dinner (which I have more control over, since I'm the one cooking it) and ended up losing all the weight again. Not that I needed to, it just came off again as a side effect.

Are you eating white rice? If so, I'd try replacing it with a whole grain like quinoa or eating wholemeal bread as a side instead. Or generally eating more sauce with less pasta, more topping on less pizza, etc.

I gained weight when I went from vegetarian to vegan... I think because of all the vegan desserts. It didn't help I turned 25 in and around the same time.

I also recommend fit day. It helped me get things back on track.

if you eat a lot of pre-packaged foods, www.calorie-count.com is a better site than fitday IMO. Just type in a brand or entree name and it likely has it.
