OMG.

My good friend Dave, my old highschool music teacher who is dear to my heart, just pledged $350 to my cause. I am in tears. I just can't believe it.

wow that's awesome! when you get photos and letters and things from the foster kid, be sure to show him so he can see his money at work

Wow, that is awesome of your old teacher! I don't know if your still interested, but here's how to do a valentine-o-gram sale....

First decide where you can deliver them and if anyone can help you with them. You can deliver them before certain classes or during classes that have cool profs (that you'll warn beforehand of course!) to embarass people (which works well!) or you can just keep it within your lab or deliver them to mailboxes- whatever works best for your situation.

Then you can set up a table and sell them- usually a small bag of candy (prewrapped, for sanitary reasons!) or a ballon, but always with a piece of paper for the purchaser to write a little note to their lover (or friend!). You could probably get away with asking a dollar for them.

Then set up a time to deliver them. And get lots of friends to help!

The key to stuff like this is lots and lots of advertising- especially with your cause, if you mention it and make sure people know what your raising money for, you should hopefully get a good response. If you decide to do this, I'd recommend starting soon- but it's fun to do!
