I'm pretty broke right now, and fresh fruit can be kind of pricey, especially if I want to get a variety, and I eat away from home so much (at work), that if I have money for fresh, it usually goes bad before I get to eat it all.

I was curious - where does buying frozen fruit fall as far as raw food goes? I know that they tend to have at least small amounts of preservatives and **** added to keep it pretty and all, but - with fruit, is there any sort of cooking done to it or anything?

On the other hand, if the bagged stuff is really lousy, what about buying fresh fruit and freezing it myself so it doesn't go off? How does that affect the nutrition of the fruit?

I think it's fine. Sometimes it's rinsed with hot/boiling water, but that's better than no fruit at all.

Yeah - I'm trying to build up a taste for green smoothies, so I'm going kind of heavy on the fruit right now. I didn't want to basically be sabotaging myself by eating something that seemed relatively raw/good, when it was really just lousy.
