I know frozen grapes are a popular treat, but has anyone ever frozen orange slices?? (peeled/segmented) My dad sent me a huge CASE of Honeybells and they're SO juicy and I thought of making sorbet, but then thought maybe they'd just be good frozen (keep the fiber in and all that).

What do you think?

hm. that sounds pretty good.
i've never read of freezing oranges.

of course i freeze bananas and strawberries all the time to use in my smoothies at a later time. i don't see why you couldn't freeze oranges. good idea to peel and segment before freezing. i've heard some funny stories of people trying to peel frozen bananas.

i just bought a huge bag of oranges today. i'm going to try this out with a couple of them.

I would try it with a few...it actually sounds appealing! Depending on what you are going to do with them after they are frozen...are you going to eat them frozen or defrost them? I would think defrosting them would make them somewhat mushy like with other fruit. But that may not be so bad!

They freeze OK. Or, the Clementines I've frozen turn out OK - if you eat them frozen.

Otherwise they turn out VERY watery and the flavor is diluted/lost...

The membrane around each segment tends to get a little 'tougher' in my opinion. I was a little weirded out by that, but otherwise, they were just icy little slices of orange - and quite good!
