You know what I use for a poop bag? The plastic sheath that my newspaper comes in. Just stick your hand in the bag, sort of like a glove, grab said poo, and then just invert the bag so that the poo is now inside the newspaper baggie. Voila. I get a newspaper every day and walk my dog every day. It works out perfectly...so long as I pay the paperman.
You don't put the poop bag in your pocket after you fill it. You just carry your steaming little bundle with you (in the bag, duh) until you get back home where you can discard it.

What's your alternative? Leaving it in your neighbor's yard or on the sidewalk?
When my family and I took my dog on walks through the then-close nieghborhood, one of us would carry the Pooper Scooper and bring any messes home in that. Now that we live much more out in the country, the places we go to walk the dog are more backwoodsy and no one cares if we don't clean up the dog's messes there.

I asked the pocket question because I've known people who DID put it back in their pocket with the poop. Major yuck.
