Yea, sorry guys, it doesn't seem to be working now. Usually they close these links once the prizes are all given away, unless its a glitch.

Yea, I'll try and keep posting some new freebies each week. I seek out the good ones.

Perhaps, Michael would be kind enough to start a Freebie thread somewhere in this off topic area.

KC Kid, I don't think a link would be in the form

www.entirenet.net/microsoft/...iz/Default.aspx

with the 3 dots between "microsoft/" and "iz/"

I think that somewhere between the time you copied the link, and veggiboards displayed it, way, the characters between microsoft/ and iz/ got lost. Some program thought the link was too long to "remember," and replaced some characters with dot dot dot.

Well, I like trackballs (or pad and stylus) better anyway. You can keep it in one spot. Mouses walk all over your desk and become hard to locate, and you have extra work to do with re-centering the screen pointer, relative to where on your desk you want the center position of the mouse, to be. Only problem with my logitech trackball is that the ball is too smooth, and my fingers slip on it instead of grip it. I'm afraid i might f things up if i start sandpapering the ball or something. and I don't want to wear latex finger condoms.

I really bought the the kind with little friction-bumps on them, to turn thru pages of invoices when I was an accounts payable clerk, without having to lick my fingertips to get good friction. But turns out I had trouble feeling the paper. When I was an electronic tech and worked with adhesives that were thought to maybe be carcinogenic to finger skin, I had smooth "finger-stalls" they called them -- supplied by the company. They were exactly like condoms, only smaller. Unrolled onto yer finger. The ones for gripping paper have air-holes so yer fingers can breathe.

I love tools, and getting exactly the right tool for every job, down to the last detail.

I'm having trouble feeling the trackball, with my latex friction thimbles.

My mouse works just fine, and I think there are enough takers on freebies for mice noncompatible with my computer that I am not going to worry about it.

Soilman - The link should work, the "..." are put in the middle by the software so that it all fits on one line, if you click the link or look at the properties they shouldn't be there.

Ah... I see it is there. KC must have copied this from another bulletin board without copying the whole url.

You have described the way veggieboards usually does things, michael. The whole address shows up on your address bar when you click the link, but in the display of the message, part of a long address gets replaced by dots. However, in this case, when I clicked on a link, the dots showed up in my address bar. Somewhere, the characters that the dots stood for, got lost.

Right. I see. He must have copied the text from the bulletin board, or where-ever, by

(1) highlighting the text of the link, then selecting copy, and then pasting the contents of the clipboard into the Veggieboards text-entry box, instead of copying a link using the "proper method" which is:

(2) right-clicking on the link and selecting copy shortcut (in msie) or copy link address (in Opera), and then pasting the contents of the clipboard into the Veggieboards text-entry box.

Hey, you software developers that need documentation writers or Help-Screen writers -- I'm available, and I know how to use Microsoft HTML-Help Workshop (chm file compiler program).
