I tried to do vegan for about a year starting in the spring of 2010. Then, in 2011, I researched for a speech I gave at City College of San Francisco on the health benefits of eating vegan. The evidence was overwhelming that a whole foods vegan diet can not only prevent but reverse many diseases, so I started following a plant based diet and eliminating processed. Now, once morbidly obese, I am within a few pounds of my ideal weight.

I started with Neil Barnard but recently switched to Dr. Fuhrman's Eat to Live which is a bit stricter. The last few pounds do not come off easily.

Wow, that's exactly what I am trying to do. I am now a high raw vegan and I'm already off one of my diabetes meds. I totally agree with you and this is also now my lifestyle. I think about EVERYTHING I put in my body, and I won't eat processed foods anymore, either.

BTW, welcome to VB.
