Food to eat in a hurry

I am finding it really difficult to grab food in a hurry. Before I stopped eating meat, I would grab (no, can't tell you. Even I am ashamed and my tears might blow up my keyboard!). So if you come home and really want to eat something quick before you grab chocolate, cakes, biscuits or crisps what do you do?

I keep blocks of pressed, spiced tofu in the fridge. The hermetically sealed, refrigerated ones. They actually last some time if they are unopened. For some reason they always hit the spot. Tins of baked beans, too. They both hit that "quick I need protein" spot you get sometimes. Bananas are another good one, too, if you are after sugar/carbs.

Dried fruit and nuts usually do it for me. I always have bags of mixed dried fruit and nuts lying about the house for those very "I need food and NOW" moments!

I do have a tendancy to eat as I cook though as well. Whatever veg I'm chopping to go into whatever I'm cooking usually ends up in my mouth if I'm hungry and then I have to chop more for the dinner!
Junk food, anything I can get my hands on. Crisps, bourbon biscuits and pb sandwiches have been my recent downfalls.
I second the nuts suggestion. Also, granola bars, crackers, fruit-especially berries when in season, baby carrots. I have this oriental rice cracker mix that I usually grab a handful of when I get home from work. I usually go to the gym right after work and need something quick that will tie me over for a while without filling me up too much and anything with nuts is perfect.
Wasa crispbread covered with peanut butter and apple sauce.
My standard just-home-from-work snack for weeks now has been a slice of homemade bread with pesto or olive tapenade and sometimes cheese on it, toasted. Fresh fruit, crackers, and pickles are also top choices. My husband keeps a big bowl of his own favorite trail mix (M&Ms, cashews, peanuts, and Craisins) around at all times.
Peanut butter and apples, bananas, and handful of nuts.
When I get home from work late, and I'm too tired and hungry to take time cooking, I'll toss a boca burger in the microwave and put it on a bun. Or sometimes I'll eat a bowl of cereal, or a bagel.

All nice stuff mentioned so far.

I usually tend to go for cereal bars, bananas, tangerines, nuts (cashew and walnut are my favs), crackers (either plain or with a bit of sauce on them), small packs of marinated tofu, a couple of slices of toast with a nice spread on (peanut butter, chocolate, jam). And like Fromper I like my bagels too.

Yum! One of my favorite snacks. Really good bread with earth balance and a salted tomato slice. So tasty.

I've been known to use this method. Although pita, chips or raw veggies tend to work better.

Right.

I was just amused picturing someone on the go grabbing a tub of hummus and bolting out the door.
