I was watching tv yesterday morning while eating breakfast, and a Wendy's commercial came on. One of the images it showed was a perfect looking hamburger surrounded by its ingredients - fresh lettuce, fresh tomatoes, fresh onions, a block of fresh cheese, even a few stalks of wheat. I'm just thinking, "Uh, what about the beef?"

When I thought about it, I realized usually only foods that contain no meat will do the bit where they have the ingredients surrounding the finished product. What's wrong with showing a raw hunk of beef next to a hamburger on a commercial? Or better yet, just have the cow standing there? Commercialism does everything possible to make people forget where meat comes from, it seems. People who would kill for a good burger are revolted by the sight of raw beef. Amazing how a little bit of heat can change something from disgusting to delicous.

Oh well, just my early morning ponderings .

Keep thinking about it.

Commercials are very powerful.

They use images and row models that have effect on your subconscious.

Commercials are only there to persuade you to buy the thing.

Not to tell the truth or be objective.

Sharpen your mind and be aware when they want you to steer to somewhere..

well, to be fair, i do see a good lot of "raw" meat on television; in commercials especially. there's a chain up here called "The Keg" and i have to change the channel every time their commercials come on because they are filled with images of raw steaks being flipped around on a grill.

also, one of the major poultry producers shows their raw products in their commercials; and lordisa help us when thanksgiving and xmas come around...the media is chock-full of images of dead, uncooked, plucked, gutted and beheaded birds. ugh!

OH yeah, great t shirt. You could even say something like "Think" under it.

Advertisers in genereal want you to have NO IDEA what really goes on behind the scenes. THey are manipulative little *astards. I was just thinking of making a parody, you know those sweet little things on packaged foods..."Here at Wallsberry farms, we pick only the best fruit, hand cooking it, and picking at ripe prefection. etc et. It makes me so sick sometimes. I want to do one for a multi ingriedient, with veggies and meat.

0. OUr veggies our natural, full of goodness. pic of pesticides being sprayed, or airplane dispersal.

1. At ____ Farm, we hand pick the best ingridients. (Picture of people anywhere, picking through trash, like one I saw in Baraka, from India.

2. We hand cook our meat to perfection. (worker cooking meat in their boiling water sanitizer, next shot eating it)

YOu get the idea. I so have to do that...wonder where I will find the images...hmmm.

I might try to make me a shirt with that image, would not be too hard, save, enlarge with the paint program, print on transfer paper, buy cheapish but presentable shirt, and iron on....Add text if ya want to in paint program.
