These shoes are designed for rock climbing and mountain biking. They are very light weight and have slip resistant grippy rubber soles and a sturdy canvas upper. The soles are quite hard which is why they attracted my attention. I am always on the lookout for lightweight vegan hiking shoes with hard soles for mountain biking. I ordered these through Amazon.com for less than $29 including shipping and handling fees. I had been watching the price for a while and when they fell to 80% off I had to order them!

I like that these have a low rise ankle area to them, and these did not need any breaking in for me at all. I bought a half size up to be safe and they fit perfectly. I am not crazy about the flat footing and lack of arch support but I use arch inserts and it seems to help. I also wish they would have come in more choices of colors than simply dark brown, though it's not a bad color (especially with some of the mud I ride through). The shoe is slightly stiff but still relatively comfortable and very well made. I can't picture wearing these on my longer hikes (10 to 20 miles) but for a short four miler or less they would do. They work very well for cycling though.

Overall I am pleased with them. I don't feel they are quite as comfortable as my Wicked Hemps, but they are more rugged and the low ankles and lightness of them make them better than my Wicked Hemps for cycling.
